A very nice lady in my church told us this:

Her husband recently had an overnight business trip. She and her 16 year old daughter were watching a movie late that night in the master bedroom. Near the end of the movie, she told her daughter "We need to get some sleep. We have a busy day tomorrow." Suddenly the Closed Captioning function on the tv (Samsung) came on and printed "We need to get some sleep. We have a busy day tomorrow!"

She said they both screamed, turned the tv off, and unplugged it. They did not get any sleep that night.

Anybody know what to make of this?

It would be cool if there was a device that let you text from your cell phone to closed caption 2/3 on the television set.

Yes. I make BS of it.

Speaking of closed captioning, props to whoever was doing it for Charles Barkley for CBS' March Madness studio coverage:

My roku did that this morning on pbs.Well not exactly the same thing, for some odd reason after a sponsor ad when the show came back on (nova) closed caps were on.

Ask the church lady what she was watching when that happened.

The issue isn't that CC turned on without them doing anything. The issue was that it showed on screen what they were saying in their living room.

This is a Dish story how?

Mod put this either in general category or in the circular file.
Really? Why would you care?

In fact, if it was there, some of us never would have gotten to enjoy this little cock and bull story, as we don't frequent those other forums very often.

That's why I asked what they were watching.

I mean how many shows or movies would possibly have this line (We need to get some sleep. We have a busy day tomorrow!) I would say a lot!
