Yesterday I had two hws installed. The hopper in the living room the sounds there one min and gone the next. It does it on random channels and only happens when the surround sound is connected. On the tv speakers it's fine. The tech was here today and replaced the hws with a new one and it's doing the same thing. Now the channel logos aren't appearing and I've rebooted it twice and they still aren't showing up. Does that take time for those to appear??

I hope the logos appear because I don't want to have to have this hopper replaced due to that.

The logos will be just fine tomorrow. It often takes the Hoppers a day to 'settle' in. As far as the audio issue, I never have that. Go to Menu, Settings, Audio, Audio Output and make sure that you are set like this:

Decoder = Dolby/PCM
Volume Leveling = Disable
Mode = Line

That is the way I am set up and have been for years from an 811 through a 722 and finally a Hopper....

Yeah I have it set up like that but even with volume leveling off or on it doesn't correct it.

Are you using an optical cable to connect to the surround sound?

I am using optical and I am starting to have cut-out problems again. Just started with the latest Hopper software upgrade.

Yes... It was fine with the hopper but when I got the hws a few days ago that's when it started. It does it on this one I had replaced today. The tech unplugged the optical cable and hooked cables to the back of the surround sound and it was still the same issue with sound cut out.
