[ like the inspiration channel if d don't add sec channel I be moving on.

I might leave and pay etf if they keep dropping channels. As much as I hate the weather channel they are broadcasting from the super bowl this weekend. Weather nation has hardly anything about super bowl.

First off, you didn't answer my question about Directv dropping channels, so I'll ask again. How many channels has Directv dropped since you signed up? Also, why would Weather Nation say anything about the Super Bowl except what the weather is predicted to be? They give weather forecasts! If you want information about the Super Bowl, turn to one of the many sports channels. There is lots of information on it.

What channels have they dropped outside of the Weather Channel ?

I agree with you somewhat. I happen to like this channel, and although I don't want to switch providers, I will miss it at least a little. (I'm a conservative Christian and all that.) I do think that maybe they don't charge providers is because it's a family-oriented channel. Is it gone permanently or are they in negotiations?

Oh, excuse me. I was confusing this channel with UP. Thank heavens. I do watch UP on occasion. Glad they haven't removed a channel that I actually watch like Dish has.

Larry , I have been with Directv since 2007 and I have never known them to drop a major channel. If they do drop the Inspiration channel permanently , they will add a channel in its place I am sure.

I hear you. I watched for years as Directv added channels while cable and Dish didn't. Since joining Directv, we briefly lost Viacom shortly thereafter, didn't get Pac12 (while DISH did, which is mind boggling), lost The Weather Channel (major channel, although less major than it used to be), and now Inspiration (which shows the Waltons). I was lucky enough to join as all the "cable" HD was added, which is good, but it's just been disappointing to join and have all this happen.

Again ....
D* did not drop Inspiration channel .... it was the Channels choice.

If Inspiration Channel dropped Directv then why does it state on their page that they want to be on Directv and to call the number to request to be kept on Directv? That does not sound like a company that wanted to be taken off of Directv.

I want a new TV. HH Gregg won't give it to me! Call HH Gregg and tell them you want them to give me a TV!

The channel wants to be on DirecTV. They just don't want to pay to be on DirecTV. DirecTV doesn't want to to give away the bandwidth, nor does it want to pay for the privilege of carrying this channel.

They pay thier way for carriage, some channels do that ...
Most it's the other way around ... I'm sure that Inspiration would Love D* to pay them.

They could not come up with the money, so they took themselves down.
At least thats the way I read it to be.

you are not drinking the d* koolaid

something that makes you go hmmmmmmmm

so insp says "our channel is free". so how come the master feed (the channel that the providers get the signal from) on big dish is scrambled? Use to be free a couple years ago

I would venture that both parties are correct.

Inspiration likely paid to be on Directv but felt they should no longer have to pay for carriage (perhaps due to viewership, public interest status, etc).
Inspiration likely said DirecTV could continue carrying the channel for free, but they would no longer pay.

DirecTV likely said if you no longer pay we will drop the channel, which they did.
Keep in mind DirecTV has very constrained bandwidth on 101 for SD channels, and may not need Inspiration to meet their public interest quota (something like 3% of bandwidth).

That all said, I honestly don't know if INSP was a public interest qualifying channel, but it could have been a factor.
