The only way there will be wide acceptance of 4k tvs is that Number one, there are no other tvs for sale, but 4k tvs and two, they have to come down on the prices ,so they are similar to today's hd tv prices. I don't see any channels in 4k unless, there is a channel out there that wants to experiment and spend lot of money on shows, in hopes that it will catch on with the audience. Until the common man gets some raises in pay out there, not many will be spending on 4k tvs.
 
So will Free HD for life customers get grandfathered into Free 4k for life? I'll need to know for when I get a 4k TV in 7 years.
Remember when 720p Plasmas were that price?
And twice that weight in pounds.
