So DISH will kick off CES in about 4 hours with their press event...

They have been known over the past few years as surprising people with some big equipment announcements. So what do you think they will announce today?

Get your guesses in now before the show starts and lets see who is right. Remember this is about technology not programming (or missing programming) so please keep it on topic. :D

Have FUN! :)

4K support with a new version of the Hopper (which is laughable because if they really cared about PQ then HD would look a lot better).

Got to admit I am not a fan of the touchpad remotes. I had one on my 922 and didn't like it. But will see how it works hands on before I make my decision.

Ok, it is entirely possible that I have missed it, but one would assume that a 4k joey would require a 4k hopper? Is this coming as well, or do the current boxes already support it?

I am not either. People "raved" about the touch remotes with the UHD samsungs, then I got one. Not a fan of that function at all.

I never had one, but from the first few seconds of seeing it on the Charlie chat, I knew I wouldn't like the 922 remote.

Also have not been a fan of other touch remotes.

New Joey looks good though and supports the current remote.

I wish they would have a very small box like that Joey 4k that could be a standalone box. Right now I have a VIP211k and it is pretty big. But would be so nice if that little box was the only thing and add the external HD on that usb port if someone wanted DVR functionality.

Probably not. Initial 4K may be streamed only, and even if sat delivered, a current HWS could still pass the data (but not necessarily display it).

4K and/or PIP may require an HWS since original Hopper is not Moca 2 compatible. We will see.

So this means 4k isn't possible with the current boxes then. Good thing I'm waiting on all these upgrades.

Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy jumping the gun here, but I assume if we have a release date for new Joey, that will get posted here?

I'm not interested in 4k or necessarily PiP, I just want a Joey that doesn't crawl like a snail.
