On Saturday afternoon the HDMI output on a H2K went black, no picture or sound. I tried several resets and swapped cables with a Joey - still black. The RCA and component outputs were OK so I switched to component and ordered a replacement Hopper which will be replaced thru a tech visit. Yesterday as I was switching TV input sources to change the clock on the DVD player I went past the HDMI input the Hopper was connected to and it was working again and continues to work today. I think I'm going to cancel the appointment but before doing so I was wondering if anyone here has experienced a similar problem and what they did.

If you cancel do it before 8 a.m. the day of the appointment so that it wont go against the tech. You might want to have him go out anyways and double check everything. Maybe the port is faulty and sometimes it works and sometimes it wont. You dont want to cancel the appointment and run into the same problem later in the day

Thanks for the reply. I canceled yesterday afternoon and got a confirmation email so I hope it didn't inconvenience anyone. I've been a good customer of Dish, to the point that they were going to have a tech replace the box rather than having me go through the trouble of the return process. I'm also a little skeptical about some of their contractors and employees and figured that it was better for my blood pressure to keep the current box even though it failed once rather than risk encountering a tech with a "cry wolf" mentality since it now appears to be working again. I'll have no qualms about another call if it goes again and will definitely replace it if it does, even if it means having to back up all of the 350+ shows I have on the drive.
