Dumb question.... When people post the software version that's in the stream, where does the format come from, ex: 0x9af or something. What I see on my screen is a similar number but not quite. Why is that?

The number you see is the software version at the time your looking at it, once you start the download, you'll see it change to the new one.

The number comes from the D* software people I would imagine.

Has there been any word about no longer doing Non Genies for CE's ?
It seems like its been awhile for one.
I was think specifically about the HR24's

I get the feeling that DirecTV is pulling the plug on all HR2x. That they're going all in on the RVU platform.

They better have a solution for the RVU before they try that, as of right now I would NEVER go that route if I did have a RVU TV from the reports we have of those that use them.

Personally, I don't want a recvr built in to a TV, what happens when you have any issues with the recvr, ya know we have them from time to time, I can't return my RVU TV everytime the recvr doesn't function properly.

I could see it as a draw for them IF they activated those units WITHOUT a monthly fee.

I'm fully in agreement with you, but they ain't letting on to any solution. They must be one or they're painting themselves into a corner.

I don't get why there would be a fee to activate an RVU TV.

There are more benefits to having a long term customer with no fees than a short term customer with fees
