Wayward Pines

Well, I like it so far .... just watched the more recent episode ... it going to be interesting.

The kids are not allowed to tell the Adults about what happened ... how do all the Adults go on without asking questions, do they REALLY kill everyone that doesn't believe ?

Q. Why the week off ?
They finally get some momentum and then they talk a week off ?

Good questions. No good answers. In the book there were lots of people "in waiting" to be brought into the town, the logic of educating the kids only makes sense if you are planning for the long run, when people die off and then the only people there are those who "are in the know," and thus no more need to pretend. I guess. :)

Do these Adults age in this year ?
Just wondering, this is way into the future now, are all these adults really kids from previous generations ?
They CAN lie about being the 1st generation.

They've got quite a brainwashing going on when these "Accidents" happen.

We got No Kate this past week ... Kate has been in town for 12 years now, Ethan says what was it, a month ?
Was it really 12 years, or 2012 years ?

In the book, people have been in the town for at least 12 years. Pitcher had been "stealing" people and putting them into deep freeze for a while. It was one of the things that made Burke suspicous. That and all of the vehicles were dated, I think several years before he arrived. In the book the whole experiment has less than a generation old, and they were having lots of problems with people refusing to go along with the "rules."

The second book explains it much better than I can.

How many books were there ?

I hate to pick up the books while the show is already on, too much confusion.

I got UTD book and started reading that while the show was on and theres just way too many differences in peoples characters .

I will read That book once the show is over ...

At this point, you could read book 1 and 2 and not have anything ruined. Book one is mostly Ethan completely confused trying to figure out what the hell is going on. :)

Back to the question about Kate. She had been awaken 12 years earlier. Ethan just came out of deep-freeze. In the book he is startled by how much older she looked, and was utterly confused by it. :)

An interview with M. Night Shyamalan: http://gazette.com/qa-m.-night-shyamalan-talks-wayward-pines/article/1554223

No spoilers if you are caught up to episode 5. Reads to me like this was planned as a one and done series. Interesting they cut down the original episode order to fit the story better. I'm sure there could be more if it is a ratings success.
I thought it was planed to be a 1 and done all along ?

Those are the ones that end up being real good and you hope for more next season.

IIRC, UTD was suppose to be a 1 and done too.

Interesting interview. It sounds like Crouch was still writing the second and third book when they started developing this.

I am catching up with episode 6 now.

Only 2 episodes left ...

Do, they somehow wrap this all up in the next two episodes, just when they are making progress, or do they somehow give it another year after originally making it a mini series.

They have departed enough from the books I have no idea how this will end.

Most all the recent summer shows START as a mini, or limited run series, then if the ratings are decent, they come back, ie, Under The Dome and Extant.
