New UI and equipment

I for one have never cared for the light gray UI so I'm really looking forward to the change. I'm even more excited about the 4K Joey. I currently have a Wireless Joey and it isn't working all that well. I just can't bring myself to go back to the original Joey. It is so slow.

I didn't mean for this to get Allen started. Just wanted to share that they are using it in ads now so I thought maybe soon was here. Sorry for an problems

I stand behind August. There is always things that can delay it, but August just feels right. I can't wait to test that new remote. We should all have quite a few things to say about it. Scott, if you get any freebies, I wanna throw my name in the bucket early....

If my memory serves me correctly I do have one big concern. I haven't watched the preview video in a long time but I thought the guide only showed 2 hours in the new ui instead of 3 like it does now. I hope that's not the case cause if it is that's a huge step backwards.

I think the new guide has 2 and 1/2 instead of 3
Its not a big deal whatever the length the guide ends up at, the only time I use the guide is to find a new show to set a timer for. I do prefer the 3 hour but either will work. The browse banner is better to find out what is on now.

I do like the option of showing a few hours of guide data, especially when there's a free preview of say, HBO or some movie channel. I'll put the guide so the first HBO channel is at the top and I can see 5-6 channels and ~3 hours out. That lets me scan quickly for items I might want to watch and/or record.

I hope the new guide will have 14 days instead of 9! :shh
If it happens it would be the only guide with more than 9 days. I agree that a 14 day guide would be more in line with Tivo and DIRECTV's guides. But there seems to be some limitation built in to their software or they are too lazy to change it.

My Tivo guide routinely goes out 10 days and I've occasionally seen it out to 12 days. When I worked in cable TV, networks and local stations would send me accurate listings up to 30 days out.

From what I remember Charter Cable was 14 days, but I am not real sure.

I could occasionally see the benefit of going further out but not too often. For instance, there's a preview for a new show starting in the future, I like to find it and mark it for recording right then, before I forget. Usually though, they promote these things 1-2 months in advance and only a "seek" timer would help.

When I see them there previews of new shows longer than 9 days, I write them down on a good o manual 30 calendar on our cork board so I won't forget them. Primitive, but it works for me. :)
