I have been using dish anywhere on my phone for the longest time. traveling internationally this was a good way for me to keep up with my local sports teams until recently. It would seem that for some reason when I got international, the app is now prompting for the IP of my hopper (I have a 722). When I return home, things return to normal, so it would seem something is amiss. If I use the computer from the same international location it works fine, so it would seem the issue I am having is with the dishanywhere app only on my note 4. Curious if this is something that anyone else has experienced or not and if this is the new normal. Things have worked fine for 2 years, so it used to work.

Sounds like the app thinks you are trying to connect from LAN. It may not be interpreting the international Wifi correctly for some reason. A test of that would be to use Data if that is possible when international and see if it connects. Is it anywhere now when international or has only happened in one Country?

Had there been an update to the app previous to this happening?
When not international maybe reinstall the app? I would have thought the app might not work when outside the US but if it has in the past seems like it should now.

Something that caught my attention was you said you were using it to watch sports. Was this live sports or recorded? That may play a part in it.

Good thought... I know it worked before, but I wonder if it was not sports would it work now..

I hadn't used Dish Anywhere in a while, but I had the same experience just this morning. I was staying with a friend, less than 100 miles from home, still in Texas. I obviously wasn't on my home LAN, but got the IP prompt as soon as DA opened on my Galaxy 5, so I didn't have a chance to indicate whether I wanted to view live TV or a recording. Seems like there was also a message about it not finding a Hopper, too, possibly before the IP prompt, but that part's hazy now.

I didn't have time or an urgent need to pursue the issue, but I know I wasn't prompted for an IP when I stayed with her a few months ago. Sure was inconvenient!

Yes, I get that prompt when I am at work ,sometimes while I am watching a transfered show on my I-pad. The sound continues but all is see is failed credentials ,sign into your account. I am sitting right next to the router for the wifi signal. I often have to sign in several times before it will recognize and load my dishanywhere account. It is a huge pain in the ass and it started with the latest update for dishanywhere. I HATE IT!

Not sure if there was an update or not, probably at some point. No real option to use data, but I will try. Turn it on just to see. I usually turn it off when there just to avoid the insane fees. I will also try different wifi

It is anything really. Sports is just my main draw, otherwise, it is any TV, live or recorded.

When in the US, it works perfect regardless, so I hope they didnt start blocking something because then then it is no longer DishAnywhere, just DishinAmerica

A quick update.

I tested things with an old Note 3 vs Note 4. both have the same 4.4.27 version installed. The note3 connects and works fine, the note 4 prompts for an IP.

Tried clearing data and cache, uninstalling, installing, but still the same thing happens. not sure why

DA app version.

When you reinstall the app on the Note 4, does it find the Hopper? Even if it does, is there a way to manually enter the IP address of it?

I don't have much else to suggest if both the 3 and 4 have the same version of the app. Maybe a security setting or an advanced Wifi setting? While I have a Note 4 I do not have the Hopper system so I can't try it on mine. But I do see where the app finds the Hopper in your house, and it appears when it does not you can do it manually.
