Noticed the other day that all my netflix content on hopper was stereo only. Normal TV is set to 5.1.

The same content on ps3 shows 5.1. Is this a limitation of the hopper or me simply doing something wrong?

Nope. You ain't doing anything wrong. I have the same situation. I don't use the Hopper app because of the lack of 5.1 audio. I use my PS3. It would be a lot more convenient to use the Hopper app. Hopefully someday it will be available in 5.1.

A lot of people probably don't care about the sound. But us with high end Audio Systems certainly do.

Hear that Dish ?

Lol. I am one of those that do not care. As long as I can hear and see it, I'm satisfied.

It's the sound that makes a movie experience much more enjoyable.
I got a $75 full 5.1 sound system. The movie experience is fine here, even through the Hopper app, in my opinion. We are not picky. Actually when the walls shake it is too loud for me. Fortunately I like it more on the stereo side of things.

I use my BR player for Netflix because the PQ is clearly better that way than on the Hopper, for most of the programming anyway.

The majority of my TV watching is on Dish. And when into a good movie, I like my walls shaking (wife don't) and the action coming from all around. I'm fortunate that I can afford such a system, but I worked all my life (retired) and this is what I enjoy. Been a Audiophile since I was a teenager.

Just saying I'm paying a lot of money for TV services and I want the best for my money.

Give us Audiophiles 5.1 Audio on Netflix Dish !

Yeah, in the end, I have a nvidia shield on one TV, Ps3 on another and in the bedroom a joey for when I need it.

Otherwise the joey buffers a lot and occasionally just stops and you need to restart netflix. It is a nice thought, but for now, whole house dvr is good enough...

I guess it's got lower priority until a few bigger fixes happen... If you absolutely must have it, it works with fiber optic link....

It seems it is a some do, some don't kind of thing. I'm using optical audio and not getting anything but stereo.

Yeah, I'm set up HDMI and get stereo only. I saw a poster or two that said that they were getting 5.1 with optic so I actually set that up up and got 5.1. I'm still HDMI. If I watch Netflix I use Roku or AppleTV.

I know this is an old posting, but I just manually updated my HWS to CUI yesterday and tried netflix on it today and it still is stereo only sound. Any new info on when 5.1 might work on the hoppers for netflix?
