Moving and downgrading

Currently the plans are to move and downgrade. I currently have 8 months left in contract and this is what I have planned assuming it would work instead of paying the etf. I currently have a hopper and Joey and pay $113ish a month. When I move can I cancel the hopper and Joey and order a 211 and drop down to the welcome pack?

Second the coinhabitant of the old house plans on signing up for dish when I leave and could he use me as a referral to save us $10? Trying to figure out the best way to keep some TV but save money.

Yes on the referral. You would probably have to purchase the 211 to not have a contract extension.

I would contact Dish now, or at least before you move, to ask about swapping receivers. Do the swap before you move too.

Well. Never thought of that. If the move extends my contract, all is not. I was just going on the bases that it was free with no extension when I used it like 5 years ago.

Five and a half years ago, a mover required a commitment:

Just clicked your link and it said "Free DVR Upgrade"*

*service agreement requred.
It was only if you accepted the new DVR back in 2010 was you locked in a new agreement as far as how that page reads.
