HOPPER 3 UPGRADES

Does anyone know why Dish couldn't process the upgrades on some accounts? They kept getting an error when they ran mine. The only thing I have that's unusual is two owned 211 receivers that I use during camping season.

I am in the same boat. 3 211z in the RV 2 hoppers & 5 Joeys in the house. Would love to know. All I got from them was there was some kind of EA issue???? They said they noted my account and I would receive an email when I was able to upgrade.

It's been a minute since I had a Joey so I don't remember... But when using the Joey you can watch off the Ehd connected to the Hopper correct???

Thanks in advance

I called and asked about upgrading to the new H3 after few questions then being on hold he said I can't get it because of my location and being on the eastern arc. So it's not available I live in CT I can't believe that to be true

i waited til this afternoon (saturday) and did the chat on dish site. the first thing the rep said was that i needed a 4k tv. i laughed-to my self- and thought i would have to call again. i totally ignored that and started asking questions. of course he wanted to charge me the $95 fee. i told him im a 20 year dish customer. so he goes into how i could "save" money by getting the service plan. i told him i did that with the last hopper install and never used it. anyway i get the install fee waived -yay.
then i also tell him im losing PiP because im losing my second hopper and im also losing my HD mirror because the joeys dont have the red blue green outputs. he says of course they do -they dont- But... he upgrades me to a 4k joey so i dont argue.
so i guess im saying i got lucky or im a complainer OR because im a dish customer since they had two sats. in orbit, i did okay. i could have have an install today(sunday) but i was busy, so i get a new toy on tues. i still have some work to do to mirror another box but im happy.

DIRT contacted me around 10:30 AM and said I would have to call in request because I do not have a credit card on file (I use automatic withdrawal). Got right through, no wait, phone call took less than 5 minutes and arranged for same day installation of hopper 3 and two Joey 2. It was first install in Chico, CA. There were a few hiccups but is working great now. Remote is going to take some getting used to!

I'm in Rhode Island and had the same bad luck - tried via phone and then via chat. Got all the way through scheduling an appointment but then was told "your Dish is not yet compatible with the Hopper 3 and 4k Joey".

On chat, I tried to convince them that all they had to do was bring a 1000.2 dish, but I think the system won't let them do that. Can anyone confirm that's what the problem is? Can DIRT work through that (I'm in the low 200's on the request page...)

Yes when you can easily get them in the $60 to $70 range

It's your recordings therefore obviously do what you want ;). You can buy a known reliable drive or something else. I have been using WD My Books on 2 211Ks for years and have never had one fail. As far as the post up a couple from this one, I strongly suggest using a self powered drive for EHD. While one without may work now, it may decide not work at some point in the future. Again, it's your recordings..

I've seen other posts here where there is a system problem with folks that own 211K/Zs. It looks like somebody coded Dish's systems to not accept that configuration with H3. I assume the reason is that of course these receivers will not work "in house" with the Hopper 3. Somebody was short sighted and hopefully Dish will fix the problem shortly.

It's still $78 and not externally powered.

I am on the Eastern Arc, live in Connecticut and have a Hopper 3... so that is not true. :)

Time to play CSR Roulette. :D

Congratulations to those already on the H3. We're really looking forward to it, going thru a retailer and doing a self install. Probably Tue or Wed before mine gets done.

Scott mentioned in another thread that it has been a long time since he had a 722. I have had a 722 for a very long time...lol. Not sure why we haven't upgraded long ago, stubbornness, cheap, reluctant to change.?.?.? Probably a combination of all.....lol.

Stardust3, you sound like me. We've had the 942, then the 622, and I won the 722k from SatelliteGuys one Holiday Party years ago. My friend in Phoenix has had a Hopper w/Sling for a few years and says I'm crazy for not changing.

Part of my inertia relates to my ViP 211 EHD recordings. Going to the H3 means I lose what's on the EHD since it isn't compatible with the 622/766/922/Hopper EHD format. Since I own the 211k and the 722k, I guess I can use the 211k to watch the contents offline.
