Official - I have a Hopper 3 Thread!

I officially have my Hopper 3 installed and running! Since I already had a Hopper system this install was very, very simple. I was able to do this over my lunch break although I was about 45 minutes late. Perks of being an owner, lol.

The install couldn't be much more simple. I just had to swap out the LNB which was a breeze. I did have to crawl on to the roof but it's pretty nice today and there wasn't any snow on it. Since I had two Hoppers I had three cables hooked up to the old LNB. It was nice only having to connect one to the new one. I also had my Dup Node outside but was able to bypass this now. I just unhooked the cables and used a barrel connector to have one cable into the house. Inside the house I had two Taps and I unhooked those and connected the right cables to the new Hub. I didn't have to run any new cables or anything. Just put the receivers in place and that basically the install process.

I only connected Hopper 3 and started it's download. This takes a bit. Once it finishes downloading it reboots and for some reason it downloads again. Once that's done you link the remote and call to activate. I actually did the online chat for my activation. About another 15 minutes and I had the Hopper activated and programming on. Then I plugged in the two Joeys and they started their downloads. At this point an hour and 45 minutes had passed and I had to get back to work.

Will mess around with it tonight and get back to everyone.

The tech just left from doing the Hopper 3 install. Its been just over 24 hours from ordering to being up and running.

I was contacted by DIRT yesterday morning off the waiting list. The chat was quick and easy and there was no charge for the service visit and no charge for the Hopper 3. I did get 3 additional 4K Joeys which were the usual $50 each. The install was scheduled for this morning (8 to noon time slot) and the tech showed up at about 8:30. He apologized right away saying he had not done a Hopper 3 install but promissed to work though it. As he got started he had a few questions and called a few other techs, but no one had done one yet either, so he just forged ahead. He commented a couple of times how easy the install was compared to when he first started doing the original hopper. 4 hours later i'm up and running with even the guide populating right away. He was going to take the old Hoppers, but I asked and he had no problem leaving them and the remotes. He even hooked up my external drive and started the process of transfering the content I havent had a chance to play with it much yet, but the few things I have done seemed very intuitive with the UI. I'll report back once I get a few days under my belt. A big thanks to the DIRT team for making this process so esay and to Dish for sending out a great tech.

has anyone tried steaming with sling? is it still limited to one viewer?

I just tried to connect my iPad and computer to the Hopper 3 and stream live TV. I am at work. When I attempted to connect the 2nd device there was an error stating another device was streaming and I could take over the stream.

Does anyone have NBA League Pass with Hopper 3? I cant seem to see more than 1 LP channel, I should have a dozen or so.

one quick question on the 50 dollars for each joey 4k is that billed or must you pay installer?

thanks

jeff

Tech had no OTA adapter as stated by the CSR. Tech called Dish and they are unable to send me an OTA adapter as the system won't let them for the H3. The CSR even said that OTA is built in, and the Tech said that it ain't true.
Tech even called his supervisor and warehouse, they could not help.

I solved the problem and bought one on eBay for 38 bux.
When it arrives, let us know how it works out.

I finally got my equipment today. I'm a little disappointed because I like to be one of the first and report about it but oh well. I'm going to try and get it installed today, start on my lunch break and finish after work. Would like to have it done before the snow storm hits tonight. I'm not looking forward to going on my roof to replace the LNB.
Be the first to post your review on YouTube. It's just over 24 hours & not one user review there yet so you could still be first in that category.
