Free upgrade to the Hopper 3?

A leased car I can Buy and own.
And drive it where ever I want when ever I want, and put Gas in it where ever I want.
Dish Equipment can only be used with Dish service.
So they kind of got you by the balls. DIRECTV TOO.
I've Never paid a single dime in upfront fees when I had cable for Upgraded boxes.

Even All the big phone companies went away with Leasing.
You can make 0% intrest payments on your phones, and pay it totally off when ever you want, and Pack up and leave with your phone.

Like I said I'm not opposed to leasing, But they should just Implement some options that will encourage upgrades equally to any customer that pays his bill on time. Like I said make them subscribe to a Higher package as an option, as opposed to paying High upfront fees.
And Limit it to 1 per year.
Why piss off your customers?

Funny as I read.
Here's you guys one:
Out of contract
Always 250 plus hbo/ Sho/ movie pack and seasonal sports pck twice a year.
Auto pay
All of above since inception.
Plus..
For many years did all of their " overflow work " from RSP with 11 techs in three states And with occasional sales .
(MDU's , commercial and residential retail..etcetera and on and on )

Kicker??? / ohhh ??
..... this is a cwa house at ATT now with which we are entitled to uverse products and/ or D* equal to and greater to 250 pretty much considering TV.

My technical background ( life) has chosen to pay for dish due to one reason.
The EQ dominance. So in turn I give dish 140 to 150$ per month that I really don't have too.

Well..
I called/ chat....yep $ 150 plus 95$ .
Simply....... Too funny.

I just laughed and concluded the ordeal in laughter.

Irony ?

Should have gone through DIRT.

I'm thinking about coming back to Dish for the Hopper 3,but my question is there any upfront one time fees for the hopper 3?

There can be but it depends on how good your credit is. Most likely it will be free unless you are getting any 4K Joeys or Wireless Joeys. Those have upfront fees.

Well that's weird the CSR said my credit was excellent, and I qualified for the very best deals, but I have to pay $54 for the hopper 3. I went with HWS while I think on it install is set for friday.

Was there any other equipment? The 4k Joey has a $50 fee.

Did you ask for a 4K Joey? Also, everyone's credit is excellent as long as they are not Flex accounts. Telling a customer they are just alright is bad business. Especially since sales is paid on commission.

This is what I had to pay. Not a big deal. I probably could have talked them into no fee but I wasn't hard pressed. The 3 year price lock was worth it.

I apologize in advance for this long post, but If it helps anyone, I called dish this evening. Asked nicely if there were any current offers that can benefit me to save a little money at least for a little while. (I'm off contract) They gave me $20 mo off for 6mos. Then asked about the Hopper 3 and if I qualified for an upgrade. Rep told me 24 mo renewed commitment, no upgrade or installation fee and replacing 2 hoppers (1st and 2nd gen) for Hopper 3 and Joey 2.0 and 4 other joeys. I spent the last 2 weeks comparing other services to my use case (wife with particular taste in channels and not great with tech) and found dish still can't be beat. I even looked at possibly doing cable with WMC extenders. Always came out same price as dish or/with less features. I've paid the $150 upgrade in the past for the Hopper 2 and even paid the $100-$150 before that for the sling adapter to Hopper 1. All in all, conversation with rep was pleasant and I think it was a good deal.

I think many customers are paying around that - at least the $8x6=48 for the Protection Plan -

It is a good deal, I had to pay PP which is $48, so your discount w/free install & more Joeys was great.

I do not know how others are getting Free upgrades or what the qualifications are but I was quoted $250 to get and H3 and 2 4k joeys.

I have had dish all but 2 years and a month of the last 15 years.
Always had autopay and paperless billing.
Have perfect credit.
always had the protection plan.
Only 38 days til my current contract is up.
I am even one of the fools that got suckered into pay $200 for a 922 upgrade to use with the multi room extender that was canceled.
My bill is $135 a month.
I have never called and ask for a discount.

I would think I would be one that they would want to keep around

I would cancel that install immediately and contact DIRT. I'll bet you'll get a better deal. $54 does not sound right, not even considering taxes.
