bought my own equipment. ..dish cant activate

what is the simple answer as to why i cant activate at my current address, but i can at another. the dish would be in the same place and still work either way.

The simplest answer is that you know it will work in the same place, and we know it will work in the same place, but right now Dish's computer system says it won't work...so the point is to trick the system to THINK you are in a location where the computer system thinks it WILL work, and therefore, allow said computer to activate your equipment. Crazy? Yes...but sometimes ya gotta play the game! ;)

thanks Hall. ....and i apologize for my ignorance and repetitive questions. but how can i tell if i will catch it on 72 0r 61.5
Try the LIST up top of this site and you can see which locals and what sats they are on. IN my case I am within 90 miles from Houston , so the spotbeam is on either arc and my locals come in at 55 strength. Eastern arc is 61.5 and 72.7 (77 if you have the older 1000.4 sat dish) and western arc is on 110/119/129 sats.

well....with dish almost 15 years. always been happy. STILL AM!!!!!. i have the original hoper and joey....no real complaints. i am going to be patient and let dish figure out the low beam issue. In the end i am confident they will not forget their low beam customers.

Well I was not going to read this thread but I'm glad I did. I am thinking a Hopper 3 plus 1 Joey 2.0 and all of the installation hardware I need to
install the system myself. Is there any way to insure before I buy this equipment that Dish will activate my new receiver when the time comes?
I know when I installed my 722K I had to argue with the customer support person that I didn't need to schedule an installation. I ended
up hanging up and call Tech Support and they were more than happy to activate my new 722K.

You may want to get a hold of a DIRT member on here and give them your address to confirm you can activate a Hopper 3 on your account.

I installed my Hopper 3 and didn't have any issues. I did the online chat with Dish to activate my equipment. Make sure to tell them that the equipment is purchased so they don't mark it as leased. If you have any questions let me know or just post it on here. I'm not the only one who did a self install.

OH I know about that owned/leased equipment problem very well. It took me about a year for dish to acknowledge my equipment was bought by me. Even after faxing them the receipts
they wouldn't change it. I finally got hold of someone in the executive offices about it and sent the documentation to them. That fixed the problem. I would think that by now Dish'es computer system would be advanced enough to see that I didn't order any equipment from them and would mark my equipment as bought not leased.

They may think you upgraded through a retailer though. It's still a dumb mistake on their end though.

i thought i had a breakthrough. i callded dish support and explained everything all over again. the tech said she couldnt understand why i have been tagged as low beam because it was only for sat 129 which i am not using. she said since i have bought my equipment she wanted my receiver info and if it all checks out she and unflag my account as low beam . she said if i would call back i had the option of getting the same person. well i got the receiver info, and got a different person that could not help me. so i am soooo dont know what is going on. how can i contact a DIRT member to possibly help me on this...thanks again ...joe

Maybe you should contact DIRT here, yes. Starting point is to find out how your account is tagged, perhaps it is tagged incorrectly. From the few hints in this thread it seems possible to me you are tagged as being on the Western ARC. Were you ever on it or had a Wing dish? In any case first find that out, make sure it is tagged that you are on the Eastern ARC. Then see what DIRT can do for you.

this seems too good to be true. i contacted chris with DIRT, what great help. he saw that i was tagged as low beam because it showed that i needed sat 129. and i have not used or needed that sat for years. he updated the info on his end. he said that should let me activate my receiver. i hope i can get to it tonight....otherwise Saturday morning........ohhhh boy......

this thread will continue forever.....i am a little mad now. not at DIRT. .....DIRT was able to remove the low beam issue from my account.Thank You ..so this morning i tried to activate hopper3 and 4k joey. Dish said they still have to send a tech. i really dont get it. a tech already set up the 1000.2 dish, a hybrid eastern LNB and the solo hub. i catch 61.5 and 72....so why do they have to come again. the only problem was the low beam issue i have on sat 129, but now it is taken care of. tech doesn't have to do anything. it is already done!
