Constant reboots. Things that were coming or supposed to work at the release don't and haven't. Netflicks . Sports bar. Having 16 tuners is great if the timers stay in the hopper? Everything kinda works or doe not work all all. 4K content? Well not really. Up to now a disappointment. Had the Sports bar mode for one evening. Now if I try to use it it locks up and I have to reboot. By power cycle. It's like Dish hired there coders on the cheap!! Not Just Kinda bad they really suck! Well maybe by March Madness 2017 Sports bar will work.

you wont find any satisfaction here budda. Im on my second H3 which is a little more stable than my first. I think the dishplayer 7100 was a better box at this point. i was showing my daughter who was home for the w/end all the things this receiver cant do that the old HWS did.
Hopper 3 wasn't ready, carbon ui wasn't ready. So! just don't use pip or swap or apps. Thats what i hear from the people that actually have functioning receivers. That we are stupid or crazy.

I'm starting to notice a lot of strange minor issues on the hopper 3. 4K Joey works great. Joey 2 is slow and reboots all the time. Overall I can use the system but it seems to be getting worse.

Sorry, I cannot agree with that statement. Granted, there may be some borderline installations that cause Hopper instabilities, but my new Hopper 3 and 4K Joey are running as nice as can be, with a few number of "New Dish" teething problems. No real show stoppers as even the OTA reception issue seems to have been cured.

I've never had a spontaneous reboot and I haven't had to force a reset since U307 & U456 were released last week.

Y'all let me know when the problems are all ironed out-especially the ota part. I will get a hopper 3 then. After 19 years with DISH , I am just really tired of being a "beta tester" for DISH new receivers. I just want it to work right from the start now. Till then ,I will stay with the Hopper with Sling that works well.

Just want to say thanks for letting me vent. Foxbat if you check you should have U308 on the Hopper 3. When I received 307 sports bar worked no reboots. less than 24 hours later I received 308 back to reboots depending on what function I try to use. On The 4K Joey. I seem so far to have no more reboots at least not daily. But Nexflicks is not working and never has? See photo. FYI doing a reboot is not the fix. My download speeds are 60D and 5UP. I am happy that you can't agree because what you have and what you do with it works. I would have to agree as a hole it works most of the time. But Also as I stated It works KINDA most of the time works well. And venting or not Dish has coders that need to find another occupation. Nobody's perfect. I can write code. But you would assume they are familiar with the software and hardware. Have been for quite some time. And watching these bugs get fixed is like watching an inch worm walk across a kitchen table. There are a few people who have all the bugs. A few that have a few. Than there are the one's who don't have or are not bothered by whats there. If from the start up until now I was not rebooting my 4K everyday. I believe the other stuff may not have been such a pain. All just a matter of perspective I guess. Peace

I switch back and forth between Dish and Directv every couple of years. They all do this.
Folk, when you order something just release it always has some minor issues, same with Windows. Even apple has minor issues on new releases but most dont notice them.
I have the Hopper 3. Just reboot it every day and I never ever have issues. reboots fix things.

Okay, I have to back off my comments, then, as I see I still have U307 and U456. I was recording the Australian Grand Prix which ran from midnight to 4am Eastern, so my Hopper 3 would not have picked up U308 overnight. Also, I noticed that my OTA dongle reception issues came back, so they still aren't fixed.

I'm sorry you're having problems. I've been with Dish since 1996 and I've been there with the Dish 6000 and 811 which had their teething issues, too. Upgrading to the Hopper 3 and 4K Joey has been the first time in almost a decade that I've elected to get back on the "bleeding edge" of Dish receiver technology.

Edit: Great. My Hopper 3 appears to have caught whatever is going around. My 4K Joey is not able to see my Hopper 3 now. I'm going to have to kick my son off the PS4 so I can troubleshoot the Hopper 3. It probably downloaded U308 and is emulating your Hopper by going through endless reboots.

Edit 2: No, it was still on U307. Weirdness. I'm not sure what's happening. I invoked Murphy by saying everything was fine...

Edit 3: Now my 4K Joey says it has no Network Connection, but it is connected to the Hopper 3 and linked up. It's IP address is 169.254.x.y, the fallback address for not getting a DHCP address. I'm trying to reset the Network again.

Edit 4: Okay, somehow my Hopper 3 "Bridging" was set to "Off". I set it to "On" and my 4K Joey now has a local LAN address again. And with that I'm done screwing around with things since I'm recording the ND v SF Austin game.

I am sure that Dish will eventually sort out all the problems, but I am happy that still have my HWS with the old interface. I am not ready to put up with Beta testing a new receiver. It is just me and the wife, one TV, I do not need 16 tuners, and I have not seen any other features that excite me.

Eventually, when the problems are sorted out, I will probably get a Hopper 3 upgrade, but right now, it is not for me!

Your loss... For all of the original Hopper functions, watching TV, recording and playing, my Hopper 3 (plus 4k Joey and Joey 2) has been remarkably stable, much, much faster. The new interface has grown on me, would not want to go back. 16 tuners - wow - NO more conflicts, all my timers can be set with extra time. Over 500 members of just this Forum got the upgrade through DIRT, and those here with real problems are still a small number. Close to 500 of them are not experiencing problems and complaining here. My first Hoppers were stable from the beginning and my Hopper 3 is stable now. (I wonder how long the free Hopper 3 upgrade offer will continue...)

Yes, there are new features, not implemented, not fully implemented or with growing pains. 4k VOD bandwidth glitch. 4k Joey PIP. 4k Netflix not here yet. Sports bar on with U307, off with U308. Not having those does not affect the rest of the "Hopper" functions. In fact on my 4k TV, click "Smart Hub" and select Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, etc. for all that 4k content that isn't on satellite yet, anyway.

I am happy that it is working out for you. However, as I have said, with one TV, just me and the wife, I have NEVER had a timer conflict with the HWS. I simply do not need 16 tuners...does not help me at all. Also, I have a 1080P TV, so no advantage to 4K for me. Also, my TV has all of the major apps, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, You Tube, etc, and they all work perfectly. No problems with Dolby 5.1 or anything else!

Everyone is different. I am happy that you have embraced the Hopper 3. But right now, I can not see any reason for me to switch.

Tony, I don't know how you do it! Here it is just me and I used to have conflicts often enough to notice. Either I'm watching/recording too much or you aren't doing enough!! :)

I think it is because me and the wife like a lot of prime time shows, so that helps a lot. Also, the only sports that we watch is UCONN basketball. I have had the HWS for years, and have NEVER run into a timer conflict. That is why I do not care if I get the new Hopper right now. If I could dream up a reason why the new Hopper would help me, I might be more inclined to try one, but right now, for me, I just can't come up with a compelling enough reason to switch.

Yeah...if OTA is important to your viewing/recording habits, the H3 is not for you. OTA recordings are pretty much useless on the H3 at the moment...who knows when (if) the OTA issues will get any attention. :(

It's very difficult for me to disagree with your statements. Sports Bar Mode worked Thursday but isn't today (Sunday). Went into it, and the box took a crap. Lost all the timers the other day without a reason why. Wife is pissed at me for upgrading. Never know if everything is going to work or not when you turn it on. After 21 years, I left Directv for a "better" dvr but so far that hasn't been the case with the exception of Dish Anywhere. Right now, Dish Anywhere is the only reason I haven't switched back.

Thanks for the warning. When we first got the hopper 1 back in 2012, the ota didn't work well at all. I really don't want to go through all that again.

Not seen this screen before.
One user 'trying' to use DA.
Another user watching tv channel on joey.
Both suddenly started acting up, unusable.
Went to check hopper, found this.
after several minutes, system returned to 'normal'.
Sorry, its blurry.

For those saying they are not ready for the new UI so they will stick with the H1 and H2.... new UI is right around the corner anyways.
