Here in Chicago, I see that Dish has on Channel 10 that Channel 9 is threatening to be removed... "Tribune Broadcasting has rejected our offer to extend our current agreement and is threatening to block access to one of your local channels"

I feel like DirecTV dealt with Tribune recently as well.

It's been about a week since the last Dish Dispute (with Newsmax) so it is about the right time for another one with Tribune. You can't go a month without some big stink between Dish and the other content suppliers.

Newsmax isn't a dispute. They didn't pay so they gone.

I had a scroll across the screen tonight on WGN America stating that on June 12th the channel could be taken off of Dish. Hopefully this will get resolved. I watch a lot of POI and Blue Blood re-runs on WGN America.

A couple simple links would solve the Newsmax debate.
Because quite honestly, I've seen nothing proving one side or the other.

Neither company is going to admit fault that's for sure.

While I did like Newsmax only recently with their nice History documentaries.
Up until last month, I had never even looked at the channel.
So I agree it was bad placement, But it also doesn't help that Newsmax never even seemed to attempt to advertise themselves.

Now as far as the current dispute, well I doubt much if anything will even happen.
Because Charles will just Cry to the FCC and the channels will remain.

I liked WGN before it became WGN America. I am the rare Pittsburgh Pirates fan in NW Ohio, and I got to see them on WGN when they played the Cubs. TBS dumped the Braves years ago, so I lost another opportunity to see the Buccos there. I am left with Fox Sports when they play the Reds or the Indians. They do make a Fox game or MLB Network game once in a while.

I also enjoyed the Chicago newscasts on the pre-America WGN. Since I don't watch a lot of reruns (unless they are from the '70s or early '80s), WGN won't be missed. My wife calls it the "Walker, Texas Ranger channel."

Dear Newsmax Reader:

As of June 1, Newsmax TV has been discontinued on DISH and is unavailable to their subscribers.

We are disappointed by DISH Network's decision to stop carrying Newsmax TV.

By doing so, DISH has closed down an important and independent news voice.

It is unfortunate DISH would make such a move during this critical election period.

Newsmax is one of the most respected online news sources in the nation, reaching approximately 50 million online viewers monthly, according to comScore.

We have been an important source of news about Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and much more.

In less than two years, Newsmax TV has become a popular cable news channel – drawing close to 5 million monthly viewers, up from fewer than 500,000 when we launched.

In the past DISH has been forced to remove channels that charge excessive fees that must be passed on to their customers.

We applaud DISH for standing up for their customers – but it is important to remember that Newsmax TV does not charge DISH!

In fact, we financially benefit them and their customers so there are NO pass-along costs!

When DISH launched Newsmax TV, we were placed among a suite of shopping channels, unrelated to our news content.

Due to this unfair and inappropriate placement, DISH has made it difficult for their subscribers to find Newsmax TV.

Newsmax TV continues to be available on DirecTV 349, Verizon FiOS115, and more than 40 cable systems around the nation — all of which put Newsmax TV in their news channel lineups.

If you are unhappy with DISH’s decision not to continue Newsmax, we urge you to call DISH and let them know you want Newsmax TV back!

Please call DISH customer service now at 800-700-4376.

That is only one side of the story. It's very routine for one to blame the other and vice versa.

My understanding is the main hangup on Newsmax is their channel position, they want to be located next to Fox News, MSNBC and CNN.

Not sure if they are paying to be on DISH or giving their signal for free but they want to be with the news channels, while it appears DISH considers it a leased access type channel.

Dear Newsmax Reader:.........
That's the info I gave a link to in another thread. One of the better news releases regarding carriage I have seen. They mostly praise DISH but put out there at least one of the problems as they see it - placement of the channel. Reading the wording is does sound like Newsmax is asking to pay less however much that is, but maybe not if they get what they feel is a better channel location?

just my own opinion if newsmax would talk to dish and ask them to carry their hd feed also too.
