Joey 4K PIP and Netflix

On my HWS autotune would turn on the Hopper and switch the channel. On the Hopper 3, all it does is remind you that a show is going to start. Not very useful when I want the Hopper 3 to start while I'm still in bed. In another thread a user said his Hopper 3 worked like I want it to. He wouldn't elaborate when I asked him.

I use the autotune on a show that comes on at 6:00 every morning, that way it's on when my alarm goes off. I leave my TV and Hopper on all night while I sleep so I'm not 100% sure if it turns on or not (I have the auto off set at 8 hours), but it seems like it's always on when I wake up every morning.

wow, it's these types of complaints that make me glad that I did not switch to the H3
a few minor flaws can be expected, but not some of the major ones that were functional with prior units........as someone pointed out, why take a step backwards

There's one thing to keep in mind tho probably [I'm guessing here]90% of the people that have a H3 have no problems at all or just minor ones. Just because people complain on here that's just a few people.:biggrin

I wonder every time I read about some H3 issue that I never see. While mine hasn't been perfect, it also doesn't have issues that me regret getting it. It has all been 'full steam ahead' from my POV!

Same way here. I have had very few problems and don't miss the Hopper 2's at all. As a matter of fact, if they come out with the DPH42 switch and they can "see" one another, I wouldn't mind replacing the 211K and one of my Joeys with another Hopper 3.

This thread was not to complain about the Hopper 3. I like the Hopper3 unit just fine but you can only have one Hopper 3 so I paid extra to have 4K Joeys for the PIP feature and Netflix. As of today, neither options work as advertised by Dish and it has been that way for about 6 months (how much longer if ever?). If it was possible, I would love to have two Hopper 3s because PIP and Netflix works as advertised. My old setup was a Hopper 1 and a Hopper with Sling. They both had PIP that worked. The 4K Joey was sold to me with that non working capability. I'm very disappointed in Dish for this reason.

Yes, you are probably correct, but those complaints do seem legit........OTA recording problems, auto tune issue, no light to indicate recording. These are items that were available on prior units, now the "flagship" unit does not have them, just kind of poor marketing IMO, but maybe that is just me. I would have thought that all of these features would have stayed intact with the H3 + the 16 tuners. Another issue that I would like is a wireless 4K joey. A wireless joey is now available, & again, the "flagship" joey does not have this capability.

Just tried to use Netflix on our two 4k joeys. Neither worked. Got the "coming soon" message on it.

You have old TVs that don't do Netflix? There are also Rokus and similar devices that do Netflix PLUS many apps that will never be on Dish.

I wouldn't be surprised, if you complained, that they might give you a credit that would buy a couple of Roku sticks.

Both are Samsung tv's bought within the last two years. Worked fine when one was hooked up to HWS and the other to my wireless Joey. Upgraded to H3 and 4k Joeys due to the promised ability to do PIP and Netflix (and speed and smaller footprint). Should have known dish promises aren't worth anything.

I understand on the PIP, but according to Scott, the Netflix issue is waiting for Netflix to implement/fix.

It would nice if Dish could have told us that this things did not work before we paid for them. It would also be nice if they could provide some kinda time frame for implementation. 6months 1 year
Yeah, I might call and at least try to get my $100.00 fee back. If anyone else has success in getting some kind of compensation, please let us know. It kinda sucks that I may have to go buy a firestick or something so I can view Netflix. I have been a Dish customer for at least 10 years and this has been the worst equipment rollout that I can remember.

Try going with the 922 rollout if you want to se a bad rollout.

Or try the old 811 HD receiver , or the original dish player 7100|7200 pvrs if you want to go through some pain. I had all those receivers and they were all crappy for different reasons.

According to Dish it's Netflix's fault? Of course that's what they'll say. Or did Netflix confirm the hold up is on their end?

It's Netflix. Similar problem with 4K App on Samsung TV's, they have not produced an app to work on pre 2016 sets only made for the newer Tizen sets.

I said it before but will say it again, I doubt we will see PIP on the 4K Joey. I have seen or heard nothing about PIP on the 4K Joey since they first announced it a few years ago.

So which is it? If Scott is correct isn't time to give up on something that was never to be? Otherwise I would agree with you.

Maybe you missed his point? Do those TVs have Netflix?
