TRIBUNE & DISH reach an agreement

The email should have a code listed in it. Contact Dish with that handy and see if they can figure it out.

On a related note, The certificate is supposed to be good for $6.99, and PPV channels 502+.
That would cover HD movies, but when I to to the website to order (you cant use the cert on the receiver) all I see are SD options.

I got on chat last night and first the rep said it was only good for SD movies. After I balked and pointed how all the reasons that didn't make sense, she later said I would have to call to order HD with the certificate.

Does anyone have similar issues with only SD being listed on the online ordering pages?
You could try calling 1-877-DISH-PPV
The certificates also work with the automated phone system. You don't have to use the website.

As I said, eventually the chat rep said call. But only after prodding and arguing for a while.
Had I not pushed the issue and just taken their word I would have just used the cert for SD and not got the full value.
Really bothersome that false info was provided. I haven't needed Dish CS in years, but it was much better the last time I did.

This all started because I couldn't recall the costs and wanted to be sure of what the cert covered before deciding what to use it on
While it's good til Dec, I won't be able to use it after Sunday (out of the country til mid Jan)

I was just wondering if anyone else only sees SD listings on the website.

Login to MyDish, then select the Order PPV tab on the left.
All I see are SD listings. I wonder if it;s my account or just something screwy with Dish.

All HD or HD/SD selections under movies for me. First one is God's Not Dead 2 - HD only.

Interesting. Guess I'll contact DIRT and see if they can figure out why I only see SD.

It appears that HD Free for Life was removed from my account at some point (don't know when), so the system didn't think I got HD.
Now after that was added back I see the HD PPV options online.

What's weird is I've been getting everything in HD correctly, but now they want to move me to EA instead of WA (where I've been since at least 2010 when I last moved). I have some reservations about this. Time to research EA more.

You may not have a choice, they are taking some locals off WA and they will be only on the EA. If they want to move you it is very likely yours are slated to come off WA. I wouldn't think DISH is spending that money just for the heck of it! :)
Maybe DIRT has more info.

Odd that it was never mentioned before now.
You think they'd would have told me I needed to change when I supposedly couldn't get all the HD channels.

I've concluded that I was put on WA in 2010 because I still had SD/mpeg2 receivers (PVR50x and 4900) then.
But I've had only 211's and 211k's since Sep 2011 and it's never been suggested I need to move to EA before.
It wouldn't have been now if not for the PPV ordering issue

Jessica is the one telling me I need EA to get all the HD channels even though I get them now (at least everything we watch). Nothing about locals being moved or any other reasons. Just that I need EA now for all my HD channels.

I'm concerned about the weaker signal/increased rain fade on EA. It's always been minimal on WA (even back on Dish500 and my 119 only days). And of course I'm about to leave the country for 4 months, so my (not tech savy) wife will get stuck dealing with any issues.
(This trip is why I was pushing to figure out the PPV issue, so we could use the certificate before I leave)

Is there a list of the ones they're moving somewhere?

Ahh that is different than what you originally posted - that you get everything in HD correctly. I guess it depends what satellites you now get and if you are missing channels you don't know about that made her remark about the change. If you feel you are not missing anything and they are not (yet) saying you have to switch then you could stay as you are. It is also possible she didn't go into details about it being an advance move for when your locals will be moved.

I get the full WA. And all the locals that are available in the market are on WA currently.

Well, to add to the mess I was checking LOS for EA. I just don't see it. Where I'd have to put the dish is a bad spot to put one.
Especially compared to where it is now (in a nice, protected nook on the west side of the house).

Sure, if there was no alternative, you do what you must.

Anyway this wandered way OT. The point was Dish no longer listed HD free for life on my account even though I'm getting everything I should in HD. That's why I wasn't seeing the HD option on the PPV order page.

I am not sure that Dish even requires HD Free For Life to get the HD programming anymore. I honestly do not know why Dish continues to list that on the bill and advertise for it, since so many packages include HD feeds whether you have HDFFL or not.

Because it includes the word 'free!'

It doesn't have to be there to receive HD, but w/o it the PPV ordering system didn't think I had HD.

Right, but the HD PPV movies were still available. It just wasn't as convenient to order them. This is more of a problem with Dish's website, rather than an actual requirement to have HDFFL in order to be able to order HD PPV.
