Laff Moving Channels

I was watching Night Court and saw a commercial stating that Laff was moving to channel 237 starting Thursday, Dec 1st.
That is a weird place for it, right in the middle of the superstations, unless Dish is planning to move the superstations somewhere else, and group all of the subchannel networks in that range instead.

just my own opinion dish should move all the subchannels together so that way it is easier for folks who want to get those subchannels

I will go one further and say that all of the subchannel networks should be included in the Locals package. Some of them (like Get TV for example) currently require a higher package since they are not included in Welcome Pack.

I also believe their plan is to move all of the subchannels to that range as well. If that happens, where do you think the superstations will move to?

Except not every market has those substations and I don't think DISH sees them as substations, they are added networks and why they are not in every package.

Only for a very few subscribers. Otherwise it is next to RFD, Family Net and WGN and not far from Grit.

My point was that they should be fill-in channels for markets that do not have affiliates of those networks, just like Dish does with distant (nearby local) affiliates of the major networks in markets without local affiliates of those networks.

I can understand wanting them but they are not Networks in the same sense as the big four or PBS, there is nothing to fill in, they have put themselves in some markets and not others OTA. Unless they are paying DISH to add them to all markets they do not currently pay to be in I wouldn't think DISH would see them like that.
I think those Networks are doing essentially what you are saying - making themselves available to people who otherwise can't get them but not as a local channels rather as channels part of packages.

Whats replacing LAFF at 73. I thought Blue Highways said to 'wait and see' or something but there has been nothing yet. How does it work, are there new channels waiting to be accepted onto satellite/cable or how does it work?

Nothing necessarily will come to that spot - it's not like any channel is being lost simply moving. In my opinion DISH may have a plan for new add on packs or adding to packs and are going to position some channels closer together based on that but it could be for any number of reasons a channel changes locations.

It isn't surrounded by leased channels though. RFD before it, Spike, True or WGN etc after it are not leased and are grouped with it. Not saying it is or is not leased I don't know....
