As so many I just bought a new TV. There is one small thing I can not think of a solution for. It is the second TV, so the input for Dish is the long coax snaked through the walls. I would also like to use an antenna. Both of them are obviously coax inputs and naturally the TV has only one coax connection. Is there a way to input both coax into the TV and watch either programming? I tried fooling around with a splitter (backwards), but can't seem to make that work.

What kind of receiver is your dish.
The coax from the dish goes to the receiver. The other coax if it connected to your tv antenna goes to the antenna input on the dish receiver or to the coax input to your tv.

Connect the dish receiver using a HDMI cable to your tv.

I have an old receiver, a 322. I might change soon.

Anyway, I am talking about the coax cable (output) for the second TV.

If you get a newer receiver, you can feed your antenna into that, then your satellite TV and over the air antenna channels are both funneled through the Dish receivers (like Hopper and Joey)

The receiver does have an antenna input. It is unused as I run the antenna right into the TV at that location.

The new TV is in a room quite a distance from the receiver. So, not feasible to run RCA cables.

Now I did just run the antenna coax into the receiver and can watch the OTA stations on TV1. Maybe the question is on how I can watch the OTA channels on TV2 that is getting the feed over the coax? As this is an old SD receiver will this impact the quality of the antenna channels on the HD TVs?

I believe if you turn off TV2 on the 322 it will pass the ota antenna down the coax. Next question does your second TV have an ATSC tuner to decode the digital channels.

They should show up in the Program Guide on TV 2 just like they do on TV 1
The 322 does not integrate the antenna channels into the program guide. It just has a pass-thru so you can watch antenna channels on the TV when the receiver is turned off. This feature works on TV1, but if I remember correctly, the antenna channels do not pass thru on the TV2 output. You can change the frequency the receiver uses for the TV2 output to one that does not interfere with any of your antenna channels, so you can use a signal combiner (splitter in reverse) to connect the antenna cable and the TV2 output cable to the second TV.

I had thought about this option. First, it would be a lot of work. But, second I would just be switching the problem. TV2 would become TV1 and TV1 would become TV2 and I would still be presented with the same conundrum on TV2 of two coax, but one input.

I think this is on the right path. I have tried using the reverse splitter. I must scan for channels on the tuner and it does not find both the antenna and the cable. Not sure how to do this on the remote or TV. Perhaps it has to do with the settings or the frequency you refer to.

The 322 is an obsolete receiver. If and whenever you have to call Dish for troubleshooting or service help, they're going to want to replace that with an equivalent receiver for you (typically a 222, an HD dual tuner). With this receiver, you can ask for a digital ota tuner ($?), which will allow your ota channels to be integrated into your epg. Your system will operate the same as it does now, with the added ota channels, HD picture quality available at tv1, standard picture at tv2.

It looks to me that even with an updated receiver I will still have the same conundrum if I want to view HD OTA on TV2. (no way to input the antenna)

Not necessarily. You could get a Hopper for your main TV and a Joey for your second TV. Then you'd have HD on both TV's and your OTA antenna channels on both TV's

Has DISH made the tuner for OTA on the HOPPER AVAILABLE????? You can't do all these great things if there is no "module" for the HOPPER. Maybe you should go back to a 722K it is still an upgrade but tuners are available.
