DISH we lost our OK CBS but give us the OTA programming guide info!!

Ok, I must be missing something. How is that such a big help? You can't even record OTA with Directv apparently now while you can with DISH, and that is somehow better? I can accomplish the same thing with any of the online program guides AND then record it with DISH or find it on demand if there is no guide info. Directv treats their customers better by not supporting OTA/recording?

Tampa, FOR sure I am not a DTV guru. Can Dish Customers with 622 and 612 down load the CBS shows? Sounds like to me that with DTV you might still be able to download and watch a CBS show you are missing...but IDK for SURE.

So are you and Chad saying their is not any DTV receivers working with OTA?

Got this from the DTV forum. Atleast DTV knows how to TREAT their CUSTOMERS!!

My local ABC Network has been shut down but the guide info is still there. At least you can see what you are missing and maybe download it from "On Demand."

Please, please, please go sub to DirecTV then.

How soon we FORGET... was it NOT that LONG ago you were whining about the Esquire Channel missing? Lets get this STRAIGHT I am not whining I'm PI$$ED about losing my OTA guide.

Whining? Yea right pal.

I couldn't care less if you're pissed or not. And your whining, crying, bitching and moaning is getting really, really old.

What I said and implied is that if you think DirecTV does such a good job taking care of their customers then please go subscribe to them. We will all be much happier.

There are older receivers that can use the DTV OTA, but it is no longer manufacturer, and i would have to double check, but believe it is completely unsupported. Meaning if it goes down, you are not getting a replacement. Would be a fun project for someone to see if they can find an AM21 tuner for sell and if it can be used.

I've got an AM21 hooked up to my Genie and it still works, but as you said they are no longer sold or supported by DirecTV.

DirecTV OTA doesn't scan for channels they use a database lookup by zip and that apparently hasn't been updated in a long time.

Thanks You Chad41. Again i have not been around for a long time. The last i remembered DTV had some box you could bring in the locals to the HR 34 maybe. Since the Genie and Hopper i am probably our of the loop on what is going on. NOT probably for sure out of the LOOP.

Yup, in that thread that you so dutifully researched in order to form some kind of personal attack against me I inquired about and noted the passing of a channel. In contrast to this thread which is a joke.

:oldlaugh

REALLY who ATTACKED who FIRST? Maybe you need to go read your POST #122. You have not had any input in this THREAD until then . I DIDN"T come into one of your threads and tell you WHAT you needed to do. Why could your FIRST post been like #127. THAT was helpful.

I can only hope you GET OVER it. If not please MOVE on /or hit the IGNORE button.

Bruno, I know you are older so you may not be aware of this, but words in caps on a message board are seen as screaming. So while it may not be your intent, your posts come off as someone throwing a tantrum, which might explain why you are getting such negative responses to your posts.

thank you.. I always thought it you typed it all in caps it was screaming. By typing certain words in CAPS to me that was to emphasis a word or phrase. My wife screams at me so I wouldn't want others to think I would do that to them.

We or most of us have certain things that upset us. I live in Okla. and it seems like we go thru this local thing every year. I have been checking out AVS into the TIVO OTA.

Yup, I'll say again if you think DirecTV treats their customers so much better then please go sub to them. And FYI that's not an attack, it's a response to your post. You're the one who's making the personal attacks, and they haven't been just on me either.

Just because you started a thread doesn't make it 'your thread'. This is Scott's board and technically they're his threads. You posted a bunch of crap and I commented on it, it's just that plain and simple. If you don't like it then take your own advice and move on and/or hit the ignore.

I have probably posted some crap :)in my 300 posts. How much CRAP do you have in 4000 posts? Second its seems your the one worried about being ATTACKED. You was the one I guess that got all scared when i replied to your post. I hope you can sleep tonight and i will be back tomorrow.

NOW can we get :backontopic .. DISH when you going to give our locals back?

You are too funny... or something... I'm gonna sleep really good later tonight. Good Night Bruno. :oldlaugh

Channel owners have a nice racket going for them. When stations go dark, they know that most people will blame the provider. Then when a new agreement is reached for more money, they also know that the provider will then get blamed again for having to raise rates every year. Must be nice not to have to deal with market forces except to drive them.

I don't think that's the case. Do they HOPE (emphasis, not yelling) most will blame the provider? Sure. But they also know they'll get emails, phone calls, facebook posts, twitters, etc blaming them.

ETA: We also don't know how much the locals are asking for increases. Something tells me that when Dish raises their fees $5/month (for example), that covers the increase to their expense line AND something for their profit.

Finally people are starting to realize how bad Griffin is. They throw the weather crawls up if there is dark cloud within 300 miles coming out of the Gulf or the Rockies and now for the past 8 months they have a stupid bong/chime that dings every 90 seconds when the crawl resets and starts over. They always want to the blame the FCC or NWS. Their comments now on this

KOTV - The News On 6 The tone is an FCC requirement to let our visually impaired viewers know there is a new alert they may need to be aware of. It comes from the National Weather Service and the tone is automated when the weather crawl is up.

It's amazing that the tone suddenly vanishes when their newscast starts or that the VITALLY LIFE AND DEATH weather graphics and tones completely disappear when they go to commercial. Guess life and death weather takes a break for 23 mins every hour and for 35mins during newscasts.

I have really ENJOYED the last couple of post. Like maybe i need to QUIT posting (should get a few LIKES on this) but its not probably going to happen. I do think BOTH DISH and GRIFFIN are the problem and the CUSTOMER is the one paying for it. Like you said it will at some point get DONE and we will be good until next Year when DISH and TRIBUNE is playing the CUSTOMER again.

Well, of course. Dish's profit margin has consistently been in the single digits. So logically, on average, any price increase is 90% expense, and 10% profit.
