So maybe someone from DISH will step up and lets us know if DISH can or can not give the OTA guide. The last time the information showed up but as of now all it says "KWTV shut off CBS"

I wonder if it's a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation. The guide data would probably apply to both the SAT and OTA channels simultaneously. If they leave the guide data there without a notification that the channel is in dispute, people would complain that a slate recorded on the SAT channel instead of the actual shows on the OTA. Changing the guide information for the SAT channel probably propagates to the OTA channel automatically.

When NBC was shut off for the olympics, I had a 722(?) with dual ota tuner built in. The Sat channel was removed, but the OTA still worked & had guide info.

This time I have a H3 w/no OTA adapter (maybe Dish is dragging because of these 'negotiations'?)

So this brings up a question I was going to post; what can we ask Dish for for comp. during these blackouts, if anything? Now that I pay $10/mo for 'locals'.

REFUND or CLASS ACTION time? We should not have to ask for a refund that should be automatic.

I was told they gave out pay per view coupons last time but i never got one!! I got screwed twice by DISH.

Class action ain't happening; I'm sure somewhere in that 500pg contract we 'sign' there's a clause that Dish can add/delete channels willy nilly

Read the DISH contract and get back to us on that. Why do you think DISH is obligated to provide OTA guide data?

Guide data for a channel is included in the contract for that channel. When there is no longer a contract then Dish can no longer freely provide that guide data.

However as was the case with Tribune they knew it was going to be a long fight so DISH opted to pay for the guide data for those with OTA access.

DISH must not expect this dispute to last long thus they are not paying extra for the guide data.

Please, Tampa don't be that thick headed about this. I don't need to read the contract. I am a customer. I am out of contract. Does DISH want to KEEP customers? DISH needs to do what is RIGHT. Give the customer the OTA guide. Give the customer a REFUND. Give the customer a PPV coupon. KEEP the customer. This should be what does DISH need to do to make the customer HAPPY. CHARLIE is not going to lose any money on this local deal.

You are not out of a contract. You simply can go somewhere else without a termination fee. As long as you have service the contract still stands.

How about dish break off the locals from the core packages like they use to . Then break it into pay per local station . Then they can show how much each local station wants and claimed this how we keep the station on air for you so you don't complain about them being shut off. If you want cheaper price call the station and complain or put up an outside antenna. Don't forget local stations have a choice, provided for free or ask for money and as you can see they are greedy and all ask for money. If they ran their stations better they would not need to ask for money like years ago. Also someone does need to pay to get the signal to dish. And lets not get into abc and nbc O&O stations tied to cable network.. My 2 cents

To be more specific, it's an "agreement"* and has no timeframe. The 2-year part is covered under a different agreement.

* Not sure if legally there's a difference in 'contract' and 'agreement'

Generally DISH does most of that, read what Scott posted it is possible this is a short term dispute. Dude, you have a right to feel entitled and I have a right to feel a few days of a dispute is no big deal. Historically when it goes beyond that DISH will give some type compensation. And if you want to demand a "REFUND" as you typed it, then you should be willing to pay more immediately upon the contract being signed and the cost to DISH goes up. It's Griffin who pulled the channels. KOKI and My41 were pulled off of At&t and Directv also.

I still don't see why we can't use the internet and let DISH add the Titan Tv app to our receivers- to give us full guide information for all channels and sub channels. I get all guide data for all my local channels and sub channels using this free app on my computer. This would give the customers full guide data from the internet ,without putting it up on the satellite. Echostar manufactures the Channel Master dvr that uses this app , how hard for DISH to put the same app on their receivers considering that Echostar makes all DISH receivers as well?

Charging differently for each station would be a logistical nightmare. However, I'll go along with you in principle. DISH could charge 50 cents per local station. That way, those in large cities with a zillion locals could pay half a zillion dollars and those of us with just five locals could pay $2.50..............or nothing at all if we opt out of locals.

I don't know how many customers would opt out of getting locals altogether if they could save $10 per month, but however it turned out would send a clear signal to both DISH and the local providers about the value of the product.

Folks while not a definite thing I heard at CES they are looking at making it so you can remove locals from your package if you don't want them. This is part of the reason why starting this month you will see locals as a separate charge on your bill.
