Much anticipated Dish Anywhere (which is my I switched)
1.worked on tablet (cool!)
2. worked on phone (cool!)
3. DID NOT WORK on PC (2 calls to support ..finally after a long time...he came back and said a known issue ....fix to come Feb 7). If it really comes Feb 7, I will be satisfied...but really this is not acceptable.

Search worked pretty well ...with voice remote and other remotes

While I knew this to be the case, the fact that it CANNOT remember where it left off in a show if you leave a show in the middle of recording is way more painful than I imagined... this MUST be fixed...
This is obviously works on ANY other solution.

FF goes too far (30 sec) for the purpose of sports .... I really wish this was programmable (and the REV time).. I have to click Forward then back quickly to accomplish what I want.

OnDemand (most) I could FF through commercials (nice!)

The DVR view with graphical boxes - I wish it was simple text list like DTV. Many graphical boxes dont have a picture that would indicate the show.

Using Voice remote...was EXTREMELY difficult to change to a different HDMI input

In summary, for DISH to be far superior than DTV, they need to fix
1. Dish Anywhere on PC
2. Remember where it left off in a recording in progress

3. Having a programmable time for Forward/Back would be icing on the cake.

Pause with PIP Swap, instead of retuning, allows leaving and returning to a recording in progress. You don't have use the PIP window, the input button on the side is PIP Swap.

Skip is 30 seconds forward. Holding down the skip button a moment on the 52 remote gives you FF, again steps up the speed. Skip back is 10 seconds and holding down the button gives you REW. Those same buttons with pause give you frame by frame and slow motion.

Before you complain learn the system. If you get a 40 remote, many options are one click.

That is interesting that Dish Anywhere works on Windows 10 ...but wouldn't work on my Windows 7 laptop or desktop. They said it was a known issue....

Thanks for the idea about PIP ....I did not know that.... I will give it a try... I hope it helps...

I have the 52 remote and 50 voice remote .... I like that it has fewer buttons...I hope I can accomplish what I need with those.

Regarding the switching of HDMI on the voice remote...I had to click the TV button on the side and then just start clicking quickly on the input button (on the side) a bunch of times....as it cycles in 1 direction to get to the correct HDMI.. is there a better way ? i.e. other buttons or voice?

Turns out I found the solution to Dish Anywhere on PC....on this FORUM!!! ==> http://www.satelliteguys.us/xen/threads/cannot-watch-dvr-on-dishanywhere.367118/

Its sad that tech support is not able to solve these issues : (

also I tried the PIP solution for not losing track of where you left off....and i think it works.
I still content that anytime I leave a show it should remember where I left off and allow me to resume without needing PIP. Directv and any other DVR solution has this.

Love this forum !!!!

Try using Windows 'Programs and Features' to uninstall Dish Anywhere Video Player, DishAnywhereDesktop, and Slingplayer for Web (you might not have all 3). Then open your browser and try Dish Anywhere again. It will reinstall the needed programs. Maybe that will stop it from thinking there is a newer version?

At the Joey, which does NOT have PIP, you can use the SWAP button to select additional channels to buffer in the background and switch to them by pressing the SWAP button, this can also be done on the Hopper if you want MORE than two channels buffering in PIP. While this is not a true PIP, it does allow easy SWAPPING among channels with full trick play always buffering like switching between sports games or whatever. I think you have to go into the MENU and SETTINGS to select this particualr behavior for the SWAP.

I have to say, I had some problem with DA on my PC until update loaded properly (which took more than 3 tries), and I use Chrome exclusively for DA because I have extensions on FireFox that just don't allow DA to operate. So, I browse with FF, but DA with Chrome, and the good news is that the DA playback window has an Always On Top mode. I've found Chrome to be the most reliable at handling streaming stuff like DA and TiVo and Slingbox because it is the most recently built from top to bottom browser and the most secure, although Google does track you on Chrome, but then I use FF for browsing anyway.
