I get a $10 discount with combined billing for my wireless and directv. I have the unlimited wireless plan, so how do I get this offer?

Cricket WIreless is AT&T, so you pay $65.00/month for the exact same "unlimited" plan and you are on AT&T's towers. That $65 is all inclusive, no fees/no taxes. I have been using Cricket Wireless for 20 months and I have traveled the country and NEVER lost signal and I have never had one problem. My point here is that the AT&T "discount" will not ever make up for the extra price you pay for your bill saying AT&T on top instead of their other company Cricket Wireless. If you are a person that uses less data then their lowered tiered price plans are incredibly low.
I know someone is going to say, "well there are lots of different carriers", I know that I brought up Cricket Wireless because this post is about "AT&T", and Cricket is AT&T, AT&T owns Cricket.

Yeah no reason to be on post paid anymore unless you need a payment plan for your phone. 5 lines on cricket for $100 including all taxes and fees simply can't be beat and if I need more than 3gb a line you can go up to 8gb or unlimited. Even works in Canada and Mexico.

AT&T and keep its over priced post paid service.

Just to throw this info out there, you can put your Cricket sim card into ANY AT&T phone and it will work perfectly. I just bought a brand new sealed AT&T Iphone 6S from Ebay for $350.00, I pop in my Cricket sim card and boom I'm up and running. You can also just buy your phone from cricketwireless.com

I'm happy with att plus I get 28% off my bill each month ( corporate discount )
I end up using about 32-36gb of data between 3 lines....I don't think cricket wireless unlimited can cover that without seriously slowing down my connection.

Cricket is great. One thing to remember though, is your data is throttled:

"Download speeds max of 8Mbps (LTE)/4Mbps (4G)"

That probably isn't a problem for most people, but some will care. Also, when my wife had Cricket, she had a lot of problems getting SMS messages from Verizon customers. Hopefully they have worked that out by now.

I too am happy with the discounts i get from att.

Some people reporting that the fan discount doesn't apply to the new unlimited plans, I am not sure why, some are saying the att reps are super confused about it too. Few people over at max rumors said they will be getting the fan discount and that the website is still buggy and that's the reason the fan discount isn't showing.

I'll probably wait until next week before I switch, but ideally I would save money by switching due to the $25 monthly dtv credit and the $10 auto pay/paperless billing.

Given my FAN discount was only $13.20, I will still be ahead if it goes away when I get the $25 and $10.

Er...what does this mean?

"$10 monthly bill discount when you sign up for AutoPay (excludes credit cards) and paperless billing (starts within 2 bill periods)"

Excludes credit cards? How else would I AutoPay? Not sure I want to give AT&T access to my checking account.

bank account info

Yeah, not sure I'm comfortable with that. With a credit card, I can dispute the charge when they get something wrong.

This, plus with my credit card it's easy to keep record of Utility bills paid throughout the year because they send me a nice detailed summary, also I get reward points on my credit card...which in my opinion is huge when you are paying close to $400 in tv/cell bill combined along internet...

Checked at an AT&T corporate store and an online chat, if you go to the new unlimited plans they don't have corporate aka FAN discounts, only military discounts are available. So losing that 19% doesn't make the plan cost justifiable for us at this time.

I'm still looking for confirmation, but if they follow the same scheme as Verizon then a debit card should work. On the plus side, you gain slightly more leverage for disputing a transaction, with the obvious caveat that it's your money (not a credit card issuer) that's tied up during the dispute.

I'm mostly curious to see if this will be exploitable through manual payments, ie: manually pay with a credit card all but the last $11 every month before the autopay date, autopay processes and triggers the $10 credit, and only hits your debit card for the last $1. It's a little bit of horsin' around, but it might be worth it for $120/year. (if it works)

I'm moving to a new house soon that will have AT&T gigabit internet, so I've decided to drop DIRECTV and go streaming to save some money. I was originally leaning towards Sling, as it has most of the channels we want at the best price. Then I heard about the new AT&T unlimited plan that has the $25 credit towards DIRECTV Now, which made it a better deal than Sling because it would be more channels at a lower price. Now I've read that many people have spoken with AT&T and found that FAN discounts don't apply to the new plans, and I've also looked at my account online which shows no FAN discount on the new plans if I start to make the switch (it shows the FAN on every other plan). This doesn't surprise me since Verizon is not allowing an employer discount on their new unlimited plan. We have four lines (myself, my other half, and both our mothers).

We currently have the old unlimited plan that required DIRECTV service (and which was later made available to everyone). Right now we're paying $169.80 for unlimited on the 4 lines. This is after my FAN discount. Also paying $127.98 for DIRECTV. That price includes a $10 discount for combined bill. Total now is $297.78, not including taxes and fees. It's ~$310 with taxes/fees.

If I switch us to the new Unlimited Plus plan our wireless would go up to $185 if I do autopay, and DIRECTV Now would cost $35 - for a total of $220, not including taxes/fees. That would be ~$77/month savings.

If I switch us to the new Unlimited Choice plan our wireless would go down to $155, but data speeds are restricted to 3Mbps - a noticeable drop. Also not able to turn off Stream Saver. Also no tethering, but that's no biggie since I never really used it when I had it before. No DIRECTV Now discount, so I went with Sling at $40 - for a total of $195, not including fees/taxes. That would be ~$100/month savings.

I also looked into Cricket, which is AT&T. Cricket has recently reworked their plans also. Cricket restricts data speeds to 8Mbps, not quite as bad a drop as the AT&T Unlimited Choice plan. Cricket has "Stream More" (their version of Stream Saver), which can be turned on/off at will. I looked at Unlimited for both myself and my other half at $60 each (was previously $70), plus 3GB plans for each mom (which is way more than enough for them) at $40 each. Cricket gives a $60 group discount on 4 lines, making the 4 lines $140/month including taxes/fees. Go with Sling at $40, which makes the total $180/month (plus I'm assuming a few bucks for taxes on Sling) - well over $100/month savings.

I don't really know much about Cricket, other than that it's owned/operated by AT&T and uses AT&T towers. I've never really seen/heard many comments from actual users of the service. I ordered one SIM for Cricket off of Amazon so I could give it a whirl before making a complete switch over to it. It was only $2.99 on there, but I got it for free with the points I had on my Amazon Visa. We've been with AT&T for our cell phones for 19 years, and every time I've tried another service the other service has sucked and right back to AT&T. Maybe it won't be that way with Cricket since it's AT&T.

My wife had Cricket for a couple of years after AT&T bought them. It worked very well in NC and other places where AT&T has service good service. If you compare the Cricket coverage map https://www.cricketwireless.com/map.html with the AT&T coverage map https://www.att.com/maps/wireless-coverage.html, you will see some big gaps on the Cricket side which are labelled "3rd Party" on the AT&T side, mostly out west.

The 8Mb download speeds were not a noticeable downside for anything she wanted to do, including streaming video and such. I don't think people realize how little throughput a single device needs to be usable on the internet.

Also, international travel outside of North America with your number(s) is not as easy, but most people just get a prepaid SIM in that case. If those limitations work for you, it is a viable alternative.
