Ever since we have had DISH with hoppers, Netflix playback has always been extremely buggy.

Is there a fix for this?

After watching a while, the screen freezes. Only way to fix is to restart Netflix. Sometimes the Joey will reboot on its own too.

When we had 15 Mb/s internet, it worked poorly on the Hopper or Joey yet it worked perfectly fine with our Roku or smart TV (and same internet connection). Since I upgraded our internet, it works fine on the Dish equipment.

Which device are you using with Netflix?

Netflix on my Hopper 2 works fine. Netflix on my Joey 1.0 will act like you described. I have rebooted the Joey many times due to Netflix freezing up. It typically occurs when my wife finished watching something and just left Netflix on at the main menu.

With all sincerity, just get a Roku and avoid the headaches. The direct interface is so much cleaner and faster than the Hopper's.

I have to agree. For me, the Netflix implementation on Hopper 3 is extremely unstable:

The app freezes on launch most of the time
The receiver lockups requiring a reboot occasionally
The app forgets your login information often
The app refuses to switch to Ultra HD on launch often - receiver reboot required if this happens
Lack of Dolby Digital 5.1 (at least via HDMI)

Plus lack of Netflix on 4k Joeys.

Use some other device to watch Netflix. My LG TV does a fine job but lacks advanced audio formats (Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, ...).

I am holding out for Roku or an Ultra Blu Ray player for all streaming access. When Dolby Vision support happens and my Pioneer Elite receiver also gets the promised upgrade for Dolby Vision pass through then I'll move in that direction.

Pretty crappy that it work so poorly :(

We usually use the smart TV connection but do use the Roku in the bedroom which works seamless

I use my 4K player to view Netflix. SOOOO much faster. Better sound quality, and IMO the picture is better too. It would be nice to just view channel 370 and it work, but it doesn't for me (not consistently anyway). For me it almost just as easy. If I turn on my 4K player, everything switches automatically so I don't have to do anything. In fact my Dish remote (40.0) volume switches from the TV to the Receiver automatically as well.

Dish tries to use the "built-in" aspect of Netflix as a selling point and I guess it is .... to some people. I realize how difficult and time-consuming it can be to change TV inputs and all.

Not to mention that the promo I received from Dish was for free 6 months of Netflix.

I have called three times for the promo code. Never received it.
