why is it so difficult to get a bottom line price?

Good about Cox. In this area, our experience with Cox ensured we will NEVER go back to them. If Dish disappeared, it'd be FiOS. Or cut the cord. We might not get what we want today, but there's certainly plenty we want out there for little or nothing.

I thought the military history channel was just renamed to AHC.

I often think about Haupauge, in the same boat with EHDs. My boss (wife) would whip me severely if she lost the programming on those drives.

It was the Military Channel that became AHC. Military History Channel is a different animal. That is the ONE Channel I wish Dish carried, and was compelling for the proposed move to FiOS. But we stayed anyway.

I couldn't even get a quote without a credit check, then despite having exemplary credit, they still couldn't even qualify me for the free Hopper 3 and wanted me to pay $50. If I use online it would appear I have to submit the order completely before finding out the final price, which I'm not willing to do. Very frustrating process.

It's not you, the sales people deal with lots of deadbeats with bad credit and no credit card.

It takes a good 45 minutes to an hour to sell a Dish network account, since almost all sales people are on commission they do not want to go through the entire sales process only to find out an hour later you either do not pass credit or don't have a credit card.

The idea is to qualify the customer, then spend as much time as necessary locking in the sale.

The problem with this is that you can usually tell if you have a good customer in the first minute of the conversation. Some of the less experienced sales people will get someone who has good credit and is smart enough not to give their credit card and ssn within the first 3 minutes of the conversation.

Doing this just further irritates people with good credit, and they end up buying nothing.

The only reason why the credit check needs to be done first is to see if the hopper is free or requires an advance payment.

But that should not be an issue, a good sales person like myself knows the prices can quote prices and can set customers expectations for when the credit check is eventually ran If it's going to be free or a fee required.

If you think this is bad try to get a price from Charter. Absolutely nowhere on there website can you find the price you will pay after your first year promotion runs out. The only prices they give are promo prices

I sell charter. Look at the attached grid.posted below

i wasnt asking about install price, only bottom line monthly price.

was an interesting chat, as i was assured the package price would not change in 2years. but they couldn't provide that bottom line

he didtn think it was funny when i told him to use my zip and 100 main street

i went online, then tried chat
gave the rep my zip code and requirements
hopper 3 and joey at250

they cant give me a price without my full address or phone number?

what so difficult?
It's like buying a mattress. They don't want you to be able to compare prices.

That's my experience with Cox. They suck. Centurylink sucks more.

It's also to determine your plan. There is also the FlexPlan, which is pay as you go, for those with unsavory credit, or with a surprise in the check. Ultimately, they have their policies... if you object, find a different provider because it won't get better. You're not going to be successful in getting service if you do not adhere to their rules. That is their right. Just as it is your right to choose a different provider.

mdram, why are you wasting your time with Dish Chat and on this forum? Just take your business elsewhere. If Dish Chat can't satisfy your one somewhat, not entirely reasonable demand, that you ought to consider it a red flag and MOVE ON to a compitior. You obviously won't be satisfied with Dish.

FWIW, the chat people are on the other side of the world who MUST conform to the PROCESS their 3rd world CSR company bosses TELL THEM TO. They aint got no worker rights. So, they HAVE to follow the posted procedure and REQUIRE all the info requested so they can build an order in the system to see how much it will cost you PER MONTH BOTTOM LINE because THE SYSTEM will compute everything anbd give a BOTTOM LINE montly cost, not a CSR's aproximation. If you WANT specificity from 3rd world CSR, then you should be willing to PROVIDE specificity to the 3rd world human who is just trying to keep their decent job that probably pays for the whole extended family needs in such countries. Otherwise, don't risk your hard earned money with a business that can't meet your demands. You are the consumer/customer; take your business to a company that can meet your demands, although in the MVPD biz, I don't think there are any who can meet your demands of spcificity bottom line w/o CC or SS$ because even if they say it is "bottom line per month" the computer system that LATER will build your order based upon CC and SS# will provide a monthly price that is different than the "Guess" you want them to make.

Try SlingTV, DirecTVNOW, or Sony Play or even the new YouTube service. They do NOT require credit checks, etc. to give you a "bottom line" price, and they are less expensive. But the way Dish or Charter (Spectrum), etc. does things to give you a "bottom line price" (unless they LIE and say it is, but know the system will add charges) is the way it is and if you don't like it, vote with your wallet and walk away. Maybe after doing that, they will change the way they do things, but certainly not before.

One last thing you can try is to telephone call Dish during the hours CSR's in the USA operate. When you call you MUST tell whoever answers that you want to speak with a CSR in the USA. Perhaps they can understand your demand better and come much closer to metting it. Good luck.

Actually, the problem is that the chat people are living in the 3rd world and have no reference of understanding why some people don't want to provide personal info for a quote, and these 3rd world people aren't "sales" people in the way you suggest. These 3rd world CSR's MUST adhere to the script and to the procedures EXACTLY, or they can lose their relatively good paying job at the CSR center whose paycheck makes life for themselves and their extended family a comfortable one compared to the rest of the population whose poverity provides no chance of ever improving their lives.

The OP should just go to a competitor if Dish can meet his demands, if there is even another MVPD who can meet his demands. OTT SlingTV, etc. can meet his demands, and he ought to take his business there.

I don't get it at all. I can go to the website and get a price without giving an address, it includes all discounts etc except taxes. Is taxes make or break? That's the hang up? For current customers even easier using my DISH.
Btw I couldn't get a price for internet service from Brighthouse (before becoming Charter) without giving them my exact address because they priced based on competition. I was lucky and had two other alternatives at the time and have a good price, extended by Charter now.

my only 2 options are dish and directv.
i had dish at one time, currently have directv.
i check pricing every couple of years
i used to be able to get a bottom line, i cannot now

Claude never did answer my question (post number 32) about the bottom line price of Spectrum.

With Dish, you can always "move" to a state without sales taxes on programming.
