Miami
Hello,

I'm a Venezuelan Directv customer and currently live in Miami. I brought my own 18'' dish and box and everything works, I'm able to get most of the channels, but some of my favorite ones are completely black. I've search all over the net but I can't my question being answered.

1. Would a bigger dish help get those channels? Maybe a 36'' dish.

2. Where can I get the footprints for Latin American Galaxy 3C. Lyngsat only lists North Americas footprint. I want to know if Miami is close enough to get the entire signal with a bigger dish.

You can check footprint maps on satbeams.com and it'll show you dish size required for your location,

From what I see on satbeams a 45 centimeter dish would work fine in Miami, the channel you mention I see is HD, a bigger dish should provide even better reception most of the time.

Yes that what I have, but I can't even get some SD channels. I want to see if some of these channels have a spot beam directly over venezuela only.

If it's a standard DLA dish it should actually be 24" in diameter...

Also, the DLA service no longer uses the G3C satellite, but the new DLA1 and 2 Ku band payloads aboard IS-30 and 31.

You can check the "Regional" and "Pan-regional" footprints for those payloads with Google Earth here ...

The channels you're missing might be on the more localized Regional beam transponders, which in that case means you will not be able to receive them in FL.

I checked the Regional and Pan regional footprints. None of them cover Florida, which now I'm puzzled because I'm able to get some channels. The footprints crosses over Cuba which is pretty close to FL, still wondering if a bigger dish will get my the channels I'm looking for.
