I dont want to re-engineer the wheel again. I also sit with 5 of these AVL dishes i came a cross in a junk yard, same problem, than you have. Is there a way i can get hold of your solution or advise how to do the same. bernard_kyknou.net is my private email adress. I stay in South Africa, Pretoria.

hey bernard, the system is still very infantile, although it works, it takes fiddling... ive moved the electronics to single custom designed boards, but there are some issues to work out.

the best thing to do in the short term i can tell you is to hook up a power supply and reverse switches to the motors and move that way, or use the handcrank and leave on a single satellite. I used mine like that and they are fine.

Update on this,.. i mounted the dishes on a Military S-280 Shelter and built the inside as a Radio Room, the shelter will either go on a M-1061 trailer or the back of a Military 5 ton (although im concerned about height of the 5ton with it)

I used Uni-Strut to build a frame on top of the shelter, then bolted the dishes to that. One image shows the dishes deployed, and the other show one down in storage, plus the inside of the shelter

By pure luck, i got hold of a old J7 Peugeot bus, from the sixties/seventies, with build in telescopic antenna (15 m) for 50$. It look almost as in the ones they used in the "spy movies". it was used as Mobile Ham. The idea is now to take the AVL and put it on top of this bus.

Why - i dont yet. Just playing around .

Can you provide me with the diagrams the AVL people send to you, i dont want to burn the electronics by hooking up the wrong ones.
I talk to friend , a teacher at the local high school in robotics. The students do projects with the raspberry PI and andrino to build "?" whatever they want. He is interested that the students do a group assignment based on your project , i will provide one of the AVL satellite dishes - if possible.
