MGM Slates 'Stargate Origins' Digital Series | Multichannel

MGM told Stargate fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego that the studio is reviving the franchise in the form of a new live-action original series, Stargate Origins, that viewers can watch on a coming new digital site, Stargate Command, this fall.

The 10-episode series, with episodes running about 10 minutes each in length, will debut this fall and follow the character Catherine Langford who appeared in the 1997 motion picture and in the first TV spinoff series, Stargate SG-1.

I've been binging "Dark Matter" on Netflix and I was surprised at seeing a couple of the "Stargate: Atlantis" actors making appearances. (And Will Wheaton.)

As long as it's a free site and doesn't follow the "Star Trek: Discovery" model I'll check it out.

The team behind Dark Matter were part of the Stargate team as well. Waiting for season two of Dark Matter to finish before I start watching.

Sounds good. MGM. Ten episodes. But who owns who today, so which network will it be on?

Has anyone watched the episodes, now available?

I watched about 4 minutes of the first episode, i.e. half an episode but it just didn't feel like Stargate to me......:(

Last night I decided to catch up to the last episode available.

Episodes go real fast, and they're actually less than 10 minutes each, considering the end credits roll for about the last minute in each one.

Having said that, and wih no spoilers here, and past the first 3 minutes I'm enjoying so far.

Still catching up.

I'm not used to reading subtitles, and in Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis I didn't have to struggle with that, only a bit in the movie.

But here I feel the subtitles go fast and I have to rewind to read them.

I imagine the locals here speak ancient Egyptian.

I dont't get the feeling that there's a real connection of this show with the movie or SG-1, for example I'm sure that Catherine would have mentioned traveling through the Stargate herself if she had done so, therefore I have to think of this as an alternate story to the one on the movie and SG-1.

That would be great, and I hope they do something about the sub-titles, using bold and or yellow because unfortunately the sub-titles in these episodes were in a faint white that didn't allow to read clearly and quickly some letters that would fade in the white and clear colors in the background.

And the sub-titles were used quite a bit in this mini-series..
