I installed the DPH42 on my 1000+ and it works fine with my Hopper2. The instructions that came with the switch mentioned that it needs to work with a Hopper 3 with factory installed software S377(if my memory serves me) or later. I purchased a H3 a while ago and it doesn't recognize the switch. it has software S069. Will connecting to a 1000.2 DPH Western Arc antenna/LNBF allow me to update the software such that it will allow me to use it with the DPH42? Is there an easier alternative ?

I think so but don't know for sure. If not, you need to contact who you purchased your H3 from and inform them of the issue. I had to send one back because of the same problem you have.

I am using the DPH42 switch with 1000+ 110, 118.7, 119, 129 with a H2. I bought the H3 a while ago and was waiting for the DPH42 to get the 4 satellites with a single dish (1000+). It seems the early H3 software does not recognize the switch. I am hoping that if I update the sw on the H3, it will recognize the switch.

If you still have the 1000.2 with the WA DPH LNB, yes, tie that back, in its original configuration, in and load up the H3 and let it update its newer software. Then go back to the 1000+ with the DPH42 switch and all should be well...

I do not have a 1000.2 hybrid antenna. I guess I need to set one up to update the software. Any other options/ideas ?

I got it on Ebay. Brand new unit. But it was a while ago. I was waiting for the DPH42 switch to be available before I install. It seems my best bet is to hook it to a 1000.2 and let it update.

Yep, might be your only option. Maybe you can contact a DIRT member or the DISH Presidential office and see what they have to say. I hope fellow member retailer JSheridan sees this thread. He is sharp & highly Hopper 3 knowledgeable and might have an idea what you can do.

Downloading with a hybrid LNB is the only way that I know of to get it updated. Either a dish you set up or maybe a friend with the proper setup.

It's possible that you might have to activate the Hopper 3 connected to the hybrid LNB with Dish in order for it to get the updated software downloaded.
During my Hopper 3 installation the H3 would not reach the activation step from the beginning with the DPH42 switch. The H3 had to have the correct pre-loaded setup before it would download the install software. I am not sure what it will do from a hybrid LNB. I would think it will install the correct pre-loaded stuff, whatever that is and then try the install download from the DPH42 switch to get to the activate step.
