The create a timer (manual timer) on the Hopper 3 will not allow an end time of later then 11:59 pm. On the Hopper 2 the end time could be set for anytime. I hope this can be fixed in a software update. There are two ways this can be fixed: 1) Either allow an end time for a manual timer to be totally independent of the start time. Right now if you set the end time to an AM time and change the start time to be a PM time the end time automatically changes to PM and will not go past 11:59 PM OR 2) Put a start time and then have a user selectable menu for allowing how long it should record for. For example to start at 10:00 PM and then set it to record for 6 hours. This is how the manual timer works for Direct TV.

Hopefully this can be fixed before the NCAA March Madness college basketball tournament. Because there are 32 games being broadcast on four different channels all day long well past midnight for the first two days of the tournament. And the best way to record all the games is to set a manual timer on all four channels for all day long until 2 or 3 am to make sure all games record even if they run long.

from my list of timers I just press the old "red" button but it's "options" button for the new remote
It can be a little confusing because at the top of your "timers" screen it says "Press OPTIONS: Showing sort by priority" - go ahead and select options and you have multiple options including manual timer(s)

OK, cool. I was in the live chat room on the DISH network web page and was told with my account I spdo not have the option to create manual timers. What DISH employees do not know is amazing.

I'm trying to create a manual timer ....... it appears (unless I'm doing something wrong and there's a first time for everything! LOL) that there are only a limited number of dates available to choose from, typically all in the last week of the month. Anyone else notice this?

A minor bug to be sure, but in "manual timers" the ? option (which I assume should be "help" or "info") does nothing when I select it for any of the available settings. Not very "helpful".

Sorry to bump an old thread but I discovered the workaround for this. I just got my Hopper yesterday and was playing around with the manual timers. For a one time timer the date comes up with the current day when you press "Select" . For example today Aug 1 it comes up with 1 highlighted. Press the right arrow key (count them). if your pressed it 15 times then press select you will be on Aug 16 for a date. I think it also rolls over to the next month. If you go too far the LeftArrow key will go back a day at a time.

Good catch - I'll have to give that a try - thanks :)
