I have a Dish Network 500 antenna and I bought a VIP 211k receiver. The 500 antenna has 2 LNBs and each one has 2 coax connectors. How do I connect this to my receiver which only has one coax connector. I plan on using this in my RV and only one TV and adding it to my home account.

Sounds like you will need a dish pro 21 multi switch that is used to plug two different dish pro lnbs into the switch and then one coax goes to your receiver. You can get one online at www.dishdepot.com for like $29.99.

From the description, we don't know for sure that the LNB's are Dish Pro. They could be legacy LNB's. I would just replace both LNB's with a Dish Pro Twin LNB, which has the switch built-in, and has two outputs for the combined 110/119 signal.

I would honestly get a 1000.X (2 or 4 instead of X) Western or Eastern arc so you would get all appropriate channels in HD.

The physical install depends on the type of LNB you have though.

Not sure why I said the 1000.4 as we do not install those anymore. You would want a 1000.2 Western or Eastern arc.

Dish Width (in) Height (in)
TV

300 18.0 18.0
500 21.0 22.5
500H 31.5 34.2
500AK 31.5 34.3
1000+ & 500+ 30.9 23.8
1000 23.5 18.5
1000.2 25.9 20.7
1000.4 27.8 22.3
Puerto Rico Dish 31.5 34.3

Well then he would need the Legacy Sw-21 switch and you can get one for like $6.50 on Ebay. I used one of those on my older DISH 500 sat dish when I had the older legacy lnbs.

Thanks, I ordered the dish pro 21 switch this morning from Dish Depot. Does it matter which one of the two connectors on each LNB I connect the switch to?

How can I tell the difference between Dish Pro and legacy LNB?

Dish Pro has a large black DP on it.
I do not see a large DP on it. The LNBs say LNBF on them. So does this mean that mine is the legacy type? If so do I need to return the dish pro 21 switch? If so which one do I need to order? Thanks so much for your help. I appreciate it.

Yes...you need a sw-21 switch. Your DP-21 switch won't work. You could also get legacy twin LNB that has a built-in switch inside and then if you decide to add a second dish in the future for more HD channels you could use a sw-21 switch to add that second dish

Thank you for the info. I dug around and found an SW-21 switch in a box of cables, splitters, etc that I have accumulated over the years so I should be good to go. Thanks for your help.

I'm glad it worked out for you. From your description of the dish in the first post, I assumed that the LNB's must be legacy, because by the time Dish came out with Dish Pro LNB's, they had already stopped using the two separate LNB's on the Dish 500 and switched to using Twin LNB's instead. I recommended the Dish Pro version of the Twin LNB to help make the Check Switch go faster, but if the equipment that you already have works for you, then that is good, too. :)

I took your advice and ordered the dish 1000.2 thanks for your help.
I received the dish 1000.2 today. It has four ports on it. The three satellite ports and LNB in. I am wanting to connect it to one vip211k receiver. This is a simple setup for my RV. What do I need (switch, splitter, connector, etc) to connect the dish 1000.2 to my vip211k receiver? Thanks

Cable from the 211k to port 1 on the 1000.2, no switch or additional equipment needed.:D
