Just upgraded to the new Hopper 3 from My H2 w/sling.

Tech did not seem to know much. Told me the Joey would only pair 1 remote - I told him 2 and he wanted to argue a little.

He told me I could not restore my timers from my old remote - I suggested we try it - they did.

BUT - my timers don't seem to actually work.
I had backed up my older remotes to Hopper.
Paired the remote to the new Hopper.
Restored the remote to the system.
Did the same in the joeys.

Un-paired the old and paired back the new remote (52)

Problem:
The timers were in fact transferred and all looks good. However, this AM none of them seem to actually work. I have the Joeys set to auto tune news daily at 6:00 AM and the Hopper to auto tune music at 6:AM - nothing worked but the timers are there. Any ideas on this or do I just need to redo them all?

I had an issue with auto tune on the Hopper 2 and it would not work if another timer was set to the same time even though 3 tuners were available. I also spaced them a minute apart so they did not try to start at exactly the same time.

Second issue was that none of my custom favorite channel lists transferred. Should the have or isn't this a part of what is restored.

First impression is the new 52 remote is much more limited that the older 40 remote.

Thanks

Your Hopper and Joey each can pair up to eight remotes. I would give your new Hopper 3 system three to four days to settle down for all things to work and then go from there.

Hoppers take 48-72 hours to get up to full speed. You definitely restored too soon, in fact I'm surprised it even let you. Wait another day or two and restore again if things are still wonky.

I have both the 40 remote and the 52 remote and have used both.

I definitely prefer the 40 remote. It allows you to do operations with a lot less key strokes. Thus for the power user it is faster and more efficient.

I have had 2 house guests that have not used Dish. They prefer the 52 remote since it has less buttons. They are confused by all of the buttons on the 40 remote.
