I bought a second remote for my hopper to use when I am sitting in front of the computer so I won't have to keep remembering to carry my original remote to the other end of the room. My question is after reading the instructions that came with it is if I match the second remote to the hopper will it alter the original remote? I saw in the instructions something about it changing remote settings and to back up both the receiver and remote settings. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I don't think it will. Just double check your settings after you pair the 52.0 to your Hopper.

Nope it won't mess with your original remote. I have at least two 52.0s on each of my Joeys and on my Hopper 3.

I only needed 3 remotes but saw on eBay 8 brand new ones for $60 so I was like heck yeah. I don't mine having extras. You can never have too many remotes. I am newer to Dish so the 52.0 is what I am used to and perfect since I never used the older one.

Only thing difference you may run into...if you hit the find button on the device it will only page your last used remote.

Those of us with Home Theaters find Harmony remotes the best bets.

I currently have two 650s, but they eat they batteries about every 2-3 months. The rechargeables lasted longer. Still quite happy with Harmony.

Agreed on Harmony remotes. I really like the Harmony Hub line of products, especially the home companion. They support IR, Bluetooth, IP and RF communications. One remote for the TV, Roku, PS4, Hopper and soundbar. You can even use your phone if you misplace your remote. NOT that I ever do that.
