I've had this module for at least a couple years without issue. Sometime last week I noticed my OTAs were missing from the guide. I initially didn't think much of it, but today I actually wanted to see one of my OTAs. I went to the OTA antenna setup on Hopper software and it doesn't have the scan option I'm used to seeing. It's just a static screen suggesting I purchase a module. I rebooted, unplugged...no joy. Tech support had me go through the usual. Still nothing. Is this a known issue? I had to abandon tech support because I was put on hold too long.

Assuming you have the single tuner adapter? Folks have been having issues with those

Plenty of stories on this forum about problems with the dual tuner adapter. In my case I wnt from 61 channels witha single tuner to 39 with the dual. I went back to the single tuner and have not looked back.

I've been out of the loop. I assume I have the single-tuner version. It's probably at least 3 years old. Only has one coax input and connects to the back of the Hopper via USB. Nothing wrong with the port because my external drive works from either of them. The Hopper doesn't even acknowledge the OTA module.

Mine did the same thing a few weeks ago. It just completely stopped working over the weekend. Dish tech support was of no help and told me I should contact the manufacturer (it says Dish on it). After that she proceeded to try to sell me an indoor TV antenna for $44.99!!! I soon ended the call and luckily a friend had a single turner one he wasn't using so I bought it from him and it works fine so the other one must have gone bad. I can't believe how ridiculous Dish tech support was and then offering me an antenna that I obviously cannot use if I have no antenna module that works!

Yeah, I don't need them to sell me an antenna. I have 2 antennae (separate VHF and UHF) pointing in different directions atop a 50' tower. I just need my module to work. How can I make this happen? How can I tell if I have a single vs dual? (I suspect single).

The older single tuner was larger than the newer dual tuner one. You can search for both on ebay and that should give you a picture of both models.

Ok, yes, I clearly have the older, larger, single version which is sufficient. I lease my DISH stuff, and I know I got the module when I got the Hopper years ago. Is the module a lease item, too, or do I need to just purchase another one and pay for it outright?

Dish doesn't even sell them on their site and I thought mine was put in with the Hopper a few years ago but it didn't matter. They didn't offer to replace it or sell me a new one. Your best option would be to just buy another one unfortunately.

If DISH doesn't sell them, where do recommend I purchase one?

Any reason why I should NOT go ahead and get the dual version? I have one of the original Hopper with integrated Sling.
Is that a Hopper 1 with a Sling Adapter, or a Hopper 2 (HWS)? What software version do you have on the Hopper? If it is an original Hopper (Hopper 1) I do not know if Dish ever enabled the dual-tuner functionality for that model. It doesn't really matter since support for the dual-tuner functionality should be coming "soon" if it is not already enabled, and the dual-tuner adapter would still function like a single-tuner in the meantime. Just something to be aware of.

You can purchase the new dual tuner from dishdepot.com for $59.99.
The new dual tuner usb is not as good as the old single tuner. I have both and have stopped using the new dual tuner. It is much less sensitive (12 less stations with the new tuner) and runs extremely hot.

I am using the old single tuner on my 2 hopper 3 receivers without any problems
Some hopper 3 receivers have reported problems with both the old and the new job tuners.

That's useful info. I appreciate it. I think I'm going to go with this one on eBay. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
