BBC World (News Pack) can be added to AT250

So you end up getting the News Pack for 1 channel, everything else besides

BBC World News is already in 250 package.
I guess if you love it that much, it does cover other countries with the MSM left slant like we don't get enough already.

BBC World runs a lot of interesting documentaries and other programs besides news. Yes $10 a month is crazy for one commercial channel, but it was the only cheapest easiest way to get the channel. Every other outlet I looked into was more expensive. Philo, a new streaming service on the Roku has BBC World, but only in their package of $16 month. Again I have all of the rest, so that really was an option. One CSR told me that Dish is getting more calls to add BBC World into AT250, so I may not need that news pack too long.

I read earlier that only AT200 and Flex could get BBC World. Apparently Dish quietly added in 120 and 250. Hopefully Dish will add to AT250 in time. I wonder why BBC World is not in HD though?

I can’t imagine a channel on 200 that’s not on 250.

As to HD- I’m sure there’s a rea$on.

At one time it was true you could not add the pack with BBC to Top 250, could to Top 200. Also there is a channel... maybe Fox Sports 2 can't remember that was in top120+ but was not in Top 200. (It now is) Only Charlie knows why.

According to one CSR I talked to, so many people complained that they could not get BBC World, Dish decided to offer the pack to any AT 120-200-250 customer that wanted it. However, Dish is making $$$ on it, as we are paying $10 extra a month for just BBC World. But in my case, it was a cheapest alternative. The next choice was to get it in the Philo streaming channel pack for $16 that includes a lot of not needed channels as I get them already with Dish. I had other choices to drop Dish and go with Charter Cable (Both BBC World and CNN International in HD), or Direct that has BBC World also in HD. But I like Dish more and I have the old Super Station pack I do not want to lose. Maybe BBC World may end up in AT 250 in time. I did make that request when I added the news pack.

Fightbox is the channel that is now in AT120+, but not in any other package, if I remember correctly.

Is it still offered in that weird format that results in the top and bottom of the image cut off when you zoom it to the normal widescreen setting for all other letterboxed SD channels?

It is in the 'compromise' 14:9 format. Use the partial zoom with Dish to get it to fit w/o cropping. Samsung's wide fit also works.

You could probably save a lot of money by just switching to DirecTV. They throw in BBC World News and One America News in HD for FREE, instead of charging you $10 for one small SD channel. They also will pay you $200 to switch and there is no monthly charge for a DVR anymore. Frankly, DTV is much more competitive than Dish is pricewise.
