In 2001, the world was first captivated by BBC’s The Blue Planet, a nature documentary narrated by Sir David Attenborough, showcasing extraordinary marine creatures and underwater ecosystems. Nearly 17 years later, we get to experience this brilliance again in the sequel, Planet Earth: Blue Planet II – only this time, in stunning 4K resolution.

After the success of the original series, BBC sent crews on 125 expeditions across 39 countries to produce Blue Planet II. More than 6,000 hours of underwater footage from an estimated 4,000 dives were captured using breakthroughs in science and the most cutting-edge technology to provide audiences with mesmerizing, crystal-clear shots of our diverse oceans.

Looks like it's going to be VOD so it probably won't be available to me because of slow internet speeds. :(

Can’t you select watch later and let it download at a slow pace?

No. In the past every 4K VOD I've attempted to download doesn't work. A message box is displayed saying that I have insufficient bandwidth or something to that effect.

The 4K VOD's on channel 1 work because they're apparently delivered from satellite and are on the hard disk.

I've tried the on demand route and got the pop up insufficient bandwidth...blah, blah, blah.

I sympathize with those of you that have a slow internet connection. I was in a similar situation until Warner Cable (now Spectrum) finally expanded their footprint.
I fully understand why a slow internet will not support streaming. But I don’t understand why Dish does not allow slow connections to download slowly and then view later. You could start a download and watch it a day later. It is stored on your hard drive so the speed is not that important unless you are trying to watch now.

Seems like it’s not just slow internet. I have 200mps down. I downloaded the first episode no problem. When I went to download the second episode I got the not enough bandwidth message. I reset my network and did a hard reboot but still have the same problem. I’m hardwired thru a hopper internet connector. I’m thinking it’s a glitch on Dish’s end.

On the diagnostics page
1) select Status Tab
2) Select Send Status on the right
3) Test Connections

What speed is your Hopper3?

Wow. It came back at 8 mbps. I checked the wireless connection on my tv and it came back at 154mbps. Any suggestions? Thanks

I am not familiar with the Hopper Internet Connector (HIC).
But I would try the following:
1) Power off the HIC
2) Reboot you Router
3) Power up the HIC
4) reboot your hopper
5) Recheck your Hopper speed

Just ran thru this reboot procedure. Came back with the same slow speeds. Looks like it’s time to call tech support. Thanks for your help. It was worth the shot.

Your wireless connection to TV is different from actual internet connection. Check internet connection from computer with a speedtest site. It will probably comeback as 8 Mbps like the hopper.

So like a dummy, I'm looking all over channel 540 for the airings. Came back to re-read this thread.

So new question.....where the heck is 4K VOD?

To watch, click the ‘home’ button on your remote and scroll to the on-demand menu to select Blue Planet II.

If using the 40 remote lower right button says Dish/ on demand

I test it at the computer on multiple speed test sites and it’s consistent at or over 200mbps. My internet is not the problem. All my wireless devices test in the 130 to 150 range. I pay for 200 mbps and that’s what I get. I’m thinking there is a bottleneck somewhere on the Dish end.

Check your router and make sure you don't have QOS turned on and limiting bandwidth to certain devices.
