KANSAS CITY AREA
I just looked at the latest Rabbit Ears for Kansas City and was shocked at the number of channels that will be effected by the repackaging. Is there a sight that gives the dates for the repackage to take place? It is up to the station to determine when the go to the new signals? Just fishing for information. Any ideas.

We are in Phase 2, which starts this Winter, I believe: 12/1/18 to 4/12/19

Most of our moves are LP's switching frequencies. The only "big sticks" who are moving are KMCI, KSHB and KSMO.

As mundane as it may seem ...

From another thread I find the FCC map site for DTV quite helpful for repack info. and their dates.

DTV Reception Maps
Just enter your zip code and click on the stations in the list it generates for their current status and scheduled repack movements.

Many thanks for that link. Now I just need to spot the station antennas on a map.

Personally, I find the information on www.rabbitears.info to be more useful with regards to graphing the upcoming channel changes, but that's just me:

I’m concerned about NBC moving to RF 32 because TVO is also broadcasting on RF 32. Will this cause a problem with TVO? Both NBC and TVO coverage are overlapping but TVO is in Windsor ON Canada. So, will the FCC care at all?

Enlighten me, why are channels moving?

The FCC auctioned off the spectrum that makes up UHF channels 36-50. Existing broadcast stations in that range will need to move.

Now the FCC wants to take (or share) part of the C-Band spectrum with wireless broadband providers. Stay tuned.

And we know where that's going . I miss the analogue days when there were no "repacks" and all of the other problems i've faced with DTV. Back then all I had to do was plug in my rabbit ears and I was good to go. Unfortunately, I wasn't interested much about OTA and FTA back then.

Follow the money.

The gubment wants the money from the wireless telcos and the wireless telcos want more frequencies to sell to feckless droids who spend all day with their faces planted in their iPhone/Androids.
Who even really needs 5G? Sure, it will be faster but im fine with my att data plan that I occasionally use.

Hi HoTat, here in South Florida we just had 3 stations repacked on Friday (6-1-18) and move to their new RF frequencies....So now my DirecTV AM-21 is no longer picking them up.... Do you know whether the new DirecTV OTA database updates being monitored at The Edgecutter Forum are being updated with the new repack frequencies ? If they are, then my AM-21 would (eventually) get the repacked stations again (under their new RF frequencies), right ? Is that what DTV did in your LA market ? Or did they just leave the old RF frequencies ignoring the repack ?

I know DTV has only sent out OTA database updates for 5 DMA markets so far but I'm assuming all 200+ DMA's would eventually also get updated.... Is that your assumption as well ? Thanks !
