What is left for Charlie to say on HD Charlie Chat?

I thought they cancelled Charlie Chats?

Pretty sad as for a while that used to be my favorite show

It was so amateurishly hilarious. There was a retailer chat one month and they were talking up the musical guest at team summit, I think it was John Fogerty. I can't remember who was hosting it with Jim DeFranco but the guy asked Jim what his favorite song was and poor Jim couldn't name one song so he asked the other guy what his favorite song was but he also couldn't name even one song!

Even earlier they had the fireside chats where they were sitting on stools next to boxes of systems and it looked like they were using an old VHS camcorder to film.

YES. It was very desirable to have satellite tv. I had the Dishplayer in 1999 and it was way ahead of its time.

The thing is- satellite is still very effective and economical, its only the PERCEPTION has changed.

Omg that was a big thing back then just to pause live Tv.

I’ll never forget going to team summit and all they talked about was the 7100 Dish player.

Then they surprised everyone by letting us buy one for $149

I also miss the Charlie Chats and especially the Tech Forum chats. The problem is that Dish satellite equipment is a mature technology. Once you have a 16 tuner receiver with dual OTA capability and are using hybrid technology to send all of the locals as one stream what is left to develop?
Dish needs to develop a newer 4K Joey that can do HDR and retire their older equipment so that they switch from mpeg2 to mpeg4 on Western arc.
Having a bunch of apps for the Hopper3 should be a low priority. As smart TV’s become standard customers can use the apps that are built into their TV.
The three apps that I would definitely keep are the Game Finder, Dish music, and Netflix. Being able to search Netflix content is smart since it broadens their content.

Wish the Charlie chats came back, maybe they can push some old episodes out on the Hopper LOL would be fun to watch the discussion about new channel packages and "upcoming" channels

Except these days they already have almost all the channels and have them in HD. I guess they could talk about which channels have contracts coming up for renewal and which are likely to be taken down and for how long they will be down.

It may be mature hardware, but there is still a lot of work to do on the software side. They could start by fixing some of the bugs that have been around since the release of the Hopper.
