Asking for my parents. Leaning towards Directv Now but don't like the $55 price.

Must have's:

ESPN
RSN (FS Cincinnati)
Weather Channel
History Channel

Would like to have: MTV Live

Best in what way? Best price? Do they only want live or do they want DVR? No need for local channels?

If you want the weather channel, I think Directv Now is pretty much your only streaming option at this point.

Ok, I made it work. Fubo TV will be their primary provider, then I'm using my YTTV credentials for ESPN. The only service they also kinda wanted was MTV Live but it wasn't a dealbreaker. Are there any Fire TV apps good for live music videos and concerts?

As a part of looking into OTT options for this thread, I have realized I cannot switch to OTT and get the (few) channels I want for significantly less than I am paying for the Dish Welcome Pack. The absence of local PBS and CW stations also makes OTT unattractive to us. I was hoping things would be better by now, and certainly by the time my contract is up with Dish. Perhaps I am missing something? These are the channels I watch regularly which aren't available as standalone streaming services, like HBO NOW, Starz, etc.:

WUNC (local PBS)
Big 4 Networks
CW
Comedy Central
TBS

I want to be able to record shows for later viewing, with the ability to skip commercials. Dish costs me $57/month for the Welcome Pack, Hopper, and 2 Joeys. With the expected prices increases in January, that will go up to $59/month. The closest I can get is YTTV + Philo or DNow, but I wouldn't get WUNC, and I'd have to use the CW app, which has unskippable commercials. Plus, I expect those services will start having annual price increases too. I really like the idea of streaming and watching anywhere (more reliably than Dish Anywhere anyway), and cloud DVR, but I don't see it saving me any real money, and I would have to use many different Apps and be less able to avoid unwanted advertising.

Can you set up an OTA antenna for PBS and locals?
