Dish Anywhere app...can't play subscribed SiriusXM channels?

Trying to help a friend who subscribes to Dish (I don't, hence my lack of knowledge, thanks for your patience). :)

He's trying to use the iOS Dish Anywhere app on his iPad to listen to SiriusXM channels (for which he pays an extra $6/month).

After signing in to the app, the SiriusXM channels show up in the GUIDE just fine (though in a non-sequential order?), but no amount of clicking anywhere seems to make the station actually play?

The channels play fine thru his TV receiver.

Can someone explain what's going on?

Thanks so much.

Ummm, the SiriusXM Channels don't appear in the guide on the DA App. If he pays for All Access for SiriusXM, why wouldn't he just use the SiriusXM app?

OP never said the guy pays for All Access, but regardless. You USED to be able to dial up the SXM channel you wanted on Dish Anywhere by typing in the 4-digit channel number (for instance, Spa, 9968). From what I have heard, this method has been discontinued.

Adding All Access to a SiriusXM package is $5.99 a month, so when he said $6.00, well, you know....

Hi guys...yes, I was referring to the $6/month "SiriusXM pack".

The SiriusXM channels DO show up in the guide (but there's no "watch" or "listen" box to press), or am I misinterpreting HipKat's reply in post #2?

Anyway...

So OK...now I understand that the SiriusXM radio channels are not available on the Dish Anywhere app...darn...too bad. My friend has some trouble getting around his house, and wanted to be able to listen to SiriusXM in a room other than where his Dish receiver is located.

Do you guys have any other suggestions? Is it possible to load up the SiriusXM-specific app on his iPad and listen that way?

Thanks again.

Absolutely. I have the SXM app on my iPad and it works great. If he has an Echo or Echo dot, he can also integrate an SXM online subscription that way and just yell at Alexa to tell him what station he wants to hear :)

I have an "online only" plan called SiriusXM Premier Streaming for $5.99/month plus tax and that's how I listen.

Hmmm...nice price...all I see now is $15.99/month?

Thanks...

They don't show up in my guide, at least not on Ch 99

I just checked out the XM Sirius website. Their online offer is for a 30 day free trial, followed by 6 months of Internet-based service for only $30. This includes all the talk and entertainment channels, not just music.

That does not include stern, nascar or nfl channels not streaming.

Sent from my iPhone using SatelliteGuys

I am listening to Stern right now. Not a fan of his, but he is included on the free trial offer for internet streaming. I don't listen to their satellite radio service. As for Nascar and NFL, that is something I wouldn't notice, looks like they don't stream those.
