Hulu Ups Price of vMVPD Service But Reduces Core SVOD Plan with Commercials

According to an article on 9to5mac.com, the price will remain at $11.99 so they're probably upping the price of the no-ads add-on.

I am waiting to see which OTT service starts offering discounts if you sign a contract.

But apparently no change to the SVOD service with no ads?

Hulu Raising Live TV Price $5, Dropping Cost Of Basic SVOD Service By $2

Hulu is phasing in a significant rate hike for its skinny-bundle live TV service, to $44.99 a month from $39.99, but at the same time will lower the price of its signature SVOD offering to $5.99 from $7.99.

The ad-free version of Hulu’s SVOD service will remain $11.99 a month.

The new pricing scheme will go into effect February 26 for new subscribers, while current subscribers will pay the new rates starting in the first billing cycle after February 26.

We got an email stating our Hulu Live Service is going up from $43.99 to $50.99. We are looking for other options again.

I got the same email but my dvr fee is going from 14.99 down to 9.99. So it’s a net increase of two bucks. Not as bad as it sounded.

Still adding up what we pay it’s still cheaper overall over swapping back to PSVue and the cheaper Hulu package. Just not happy with such a big increase.

So is Hulu increasing the amount of the extra cost if you opt for no commercials for the on demand side when you have Hulu Live TV (from +$4 to +$6) since regular Hulu is dropping in price by $2? That stinks.

While the increase sucks... my wife and I agree that Hulu has given our family the greatest all in one option of all the ott providers. For years, I have been trying to figure out how to get an all in one option going. We had Hulu prior to live tv and loved the collection of shows it has (full house, sabrina the teenage witch, home improvement, and other classic comedy). When we added the live tv option and cut off sling tv, it basically was a wash in cost for us, but now we had a huge library of on demand in hulu, local channels live, an ability to watch our local sports teams on fox sports wi, olympics on the olympic channel, disney jr for my daughter, two rooms included vs just one with sling, and that all in one experience I had been looking for.

Yes... a big jump... but for me too... it will be offset by the decrease in the 200 hour dvr....so will only net a $2 a month increase for us. Even if that decrease didn't happen, I still find Hulu with live tv a well worth it package for what we are getting.

Well after the audio drop issues/ out of sync with video with our CBS feed with Hulu Live, especially yesterday before the Super Bowl and prior the last several weeks, plus video drops we are going back to PlayStation Vue for our TV service. Sucks as I liked having the combined live tv plus VOD option and honestly Hulu’s interface is better but the wife is not happy and yesterday broke the straw with me as well. Their customer service and tech support are horrible and constantly will tell you that the feed is great on their end and will blame either the router, streaming device or internet service for the issue. My favorite is when their tech support tried to get me to run a speed test of my WiFi even after I told the guy that my Rokus are all directly wired to my router.

The cost increase of $7 a month just kills it for me, so once we swap back to PlayStation Vue at the end of the month we will back the Hulu service down to just the VOD with no ads.
