I love the Kitztech KT-200's, using them for years. However that KT-500 is far too strong for 99% of the people out there, and I recommend you sell it. It's noisier than claimed, and FAR too powerful for anybody that has receivable tv stations closer than 75 miles. It'll overwhelm and kill the signal of everything else. Well, the reason I want to try it is I lost reception on some of my LP stations when I moved the antenna into the attic. I'm currently using the 30db setting on the 7777HD, so if I need to I can adjust the gain of the KT-500 back to 30 and keep the 7777HD as a backup

Purchased, tested out great, but ended up not needing it. My loss is your gain; pun intended

Is it the coax-powered or standard model?

More gain doesn't equal better signal.
In fact using the LEAST amount of gain possible is the best solution.
.......
A medium gain preamp like the Winegard LNA-200 is more than enough gain.

The KT-500 is intended for extreme deep fringe locations, but since it has adjustable gain, it can be used for multiple applications.
A lot of my channel are in extreme fringe being 2 edge. I'm sure this amp will help. The Channel Master CM-7777 works but needs a little more. Just waiting for a LTE filter to arrive now for my second antenna setup.

My channels are also deep fringe 2 edge -- a very weak signal, difficult reception scenario. I received and installed the Kitztech KT-500-Coax preamp yesterday. The way it improved my reception is dramatic. By far, it worked the best of any preamp I've tried -- and I've tried the Winegard LNA-200, the Televes 560383, the Channel Master CM-7777HD, and the Kitztech KT-200-Coax. I've read a lot of comments in online forums bad-mouthing the KT-500, but for predicaments like mine, it seems to be almost perfect.
