I just checked the AT&T article where they post the yearly price updates and they have updated the page for 2020. I'm guessing bill notifications will go out soon.

The RSN Fee Tool has not been updated with the new prices yet so its not worth calling customer care until bill notices or the RSN Fee Tool has been updated.

Judging by DTV's RSN fee increases and U-Verse TV's Broadcast Station fee it looks like both of them will be up to $9.99 for their respective service based on zip code.

New customers/winbacks are price guaranteed until the end of their promotion. Based on previous years I expect customers with loyalty discounts will see the increase.

Included below is the custom card I make yearly. I included the ARS, Premiums and Add-On prices since the old DTV help article for ARS fees and the new premium overview page no longer includes the ARS fee prices and the Buy More, Save More pricing for the premiums.

Wow! So basically between $4 and $8 per package. I am interested to see what the new RSN fee will be for Chicago since DirecTV has agreed to carry the new Cubs network.

Comcast has put out their increase also, Broadcast has gone up to $14.95 ( up $5), Local sports is $8.95, packages are up a average of $5 and they are getting rid of the free 20 hour DVR, you have to pay now, also you will have to pay a TV access fee no matter if you have a box or not.

So the increase for them will be roughly $15-20 ( or more depending on how many TVs) a month.

I am starting to think they ( all providers) want to push more people to cord cutting based on these prices.

So Choice with RSN fee looking at a $7 increase, and Xtra with RSN fee looking at a $9 increase.
Not great, but not crazy like some providers are going, like Comcast above.

Sorry but reading that price chart for Choice (including channels, Advanced Receiver, Whole Home DVR and 1 TV) at $115 is crazy, especially if you add more boxes, again look at even bigger losses for the Traditional TV providers next year, just too many options right now and I do not just mean live OTT service.

Imagine someone getting out of college right now, raised on Netflix, looking at TV services for the first time on their own and seeing these prices, they will decide that Netflix is just fine for them and Traditional Providers will never ever get them.

I speak from experience, my kids are 24 and 29 and never have paid for live TV, they are happy with Netflix, Regular Hulu, Disney+ and those crappy videos on You Tube.

My kids are a lot older than that and that pretty much describes what and how they watch. My grandkids are the same.

Hell, even I watch more streaming these days than live/recorded TV. I’m very close to cutting the cable off.

The providers know they have you by the balls. Cut their TV services and they will jack up the internet price to make the difference.

Blame the content owners, how many disputes did we have this year ..

Nextstar 2+ months
CBS 1 month

And many others

Not att/DirecTV s fault . Even cord cutting going up . Netflix 4K cost more than amazon ..

Hulu tv just went up att now and others also went up

I still choose DirecTV

basically, we are seeing the fees increase as we have to pay extra as the rates for carriage was increased for the channels owned by CBS, Viacom, Nexstar, Disney, Sinclair and other companies that AT&T were in dispute with this year.

They tried doing it the “Dish Network” way and it ended up costing them 1.3 million customers while they took down the stations.

So raise rates, pay the increases and bend over to the programmers so there is no black outs.

It’s a catch22 as customers don’t like rate increases and don’t like black outs.

I hate to say it, the lesser of the 2 evils was to raise rates.

Care for the consumer?....This is capitalism baby! The free market!......Less and less competition you get more and more control....
Till people wake up and speak out, and stop voting against their own best interests, prices will keep going through the roof.

You do realize that despite how we feel about the price increases, AT&T is there to make the most profit possible for their shareholders. As a matter of fact outside of State and Federal laws they must follow, their only responsibility is to their shareholders, not you, not me, not eve their employees. I am not for them raising prices but it’s inevitable.

They probably are just going to break even off these price increases. The price they pay for the right to carry these channels keeps going up and up, especially locals - providers are paying $15/month for them, it was $5/month just a few years ago. Most of your yearly price increase is due to them, the rest is mostly due to sports channels like ESPN or channels that show some sports like TNT/TBS.

Cell phones are the only provider where the price has been going DOWN due to competition.

The only thing that makes cell phones high is the financing required for the $1500 iPhones we all like to carry around and upgrade every 12 months

At the rate the local channels keep asking more money, the FCC should start demanding payment for use of the OTA frequencies they where licensed.

If OTA tv is free, why should cable and satellite companies pay for retransmission?

Copyright law. OTA TV is free to receive, but NOT free to receive and then re-broadcast, which is what cable/satellite does. That's why the stations are allowed to charge for something that is free to receive.

What they ought to do is support people who set up their antennas, and discount them the full price they pay for the locals. Dish does, and Directv sorta does (the AM21 & LCC have their annoying limitations, not sure if Dish's solution has its own annoying limitations or not) but no cable companies do.

Imagine if Comcast introduced an 'LCC' and let people pick up their locals via antenna and save the $14.95 a month "broadcast TV fee"? For every person who takes them up on it, it reduces the leverage of local stations to ask for more money, because it affects fewer of their customers and gives them a way to hold out longer during a blackout if they offer free LCCs like Dish/Directv do.

Sure, not everyone can pick up all their locals OTA, but not everyone has to be capable of it for it to seriously change the power balance when the contract is renewed.
