The simple fact is they broke an MLB rule, period, and for that they will be punished. Trying to obfuscate illegal actions with all kinds of excuses is a waste of breath. Forget all this silly "technology" talk, it doesn't matter how they broke the rule, only that they broke it, and MLB will deal with it. If you rob a bank they don't care if it was a gun, a knife, or a bow & arrow you used, you still get charged with bank robbery.

By the way, knowing what's coming and being able to hit what's coming are two very different things. Did stealing signs help? Well, they won the WS two years ago and made it to seven games this year and in the last three years they've won 101, 103, and 107 games. Did it gain them an advantage? Hmmmm.

Keep in mind that they have VERY GOOD players as well ...
The camera didn't hit and catch the ball.

No way to know if the info helped them or not.

If you talk to many players about knowing whats coming, most would prefer to Not know.
At least your better players.

Not true. Some want to know, others don't. I'll bet that those that don't would change their mind if the info was right.

Of course it helped them. Did it guarantee they'd get a hit every time? No.

But, ask any baseball player at that level if they could know if they're getting an off-speed pitch or fastball and of course they would say it helps.

Wow.

Additionally, MLB will fine the Astros $5 million and take away their first- and second-round draft picks in the 2020 and 2021 drafts.

MASSIVE over-reaction. That is like 5 years in jail for littering.

If we needed any more proof (I did not) that Manfred is the worst commissioner in history, here it is. This guy just does not understand (or like, IMHO) baseball.

I think Manfred understands just fine.

The thing that sounds weird if all this is factual, these are baseball players being traded around all the time, how could any organization expect to keep from getting caught? It's like committing a crime with multiple persons someone eventually talks.
