I HATE Google Assistant

Dish kept hounding me about getting one of these free GA remotes by sending me unsolicited emails over the course of a few months. I never really wanted one, so I ignored their repeated emails. Finally Dish gave up and just decided to send one to me - of course, I responded by littering various social media accounts with negative feedback about Dish. I'm suspicious of a company sending me free stuff without me requesting it and think they are just inflating metrics and sharing my info w/ Google.

Or, it is because they are planning on phasing out the old remotes, and those that just “threw the new one away” will be charged for a replacement. That’d be my guess. Granted, probably not for atleast a year or two.

What do you mean? Don't be passive aggressive, if you have something worth saying man up and say it.
We've been talking about the new remotes on here for months. It's been explained why over and over and who gets them for free and someone who has a history of denigrating anything about Dish anytime he can comes on here with some paranoia about a, pardon my pun, "Quid Pro Quo" because he got on the remotes sent to him

I don't post here as much as you, don't follow every thread, and I don't know who you are, I asked once because you pretend to have some authority here and you refused to answer. If you don't like the subject of this thread, don't read it. And I don't have a history of denigrating anything about dish but I do have a growing dissatisfaction and AFAIK that isn't against the rules.

Did I say you?? I just answered your question. I never said any names, but if the shoe feels like it fits, maybe you're wearing it

I'm sure you're trying to get the thread closed so I won't engage your trolling further. If you legitimately have something to say, send me a PM and we'll sort it out.

Yesterday my internet went down and I could not use the voice command to do anything. I got an error message saying an internet connection is needed. The voice command prior to going with Google worked without an internet connection. So I would have to relearn how to do things without the voice command on the 54 remote. I found my 40 remote and had no further problems. Internet is now back but I am still using the 40 remote.

The voice feature has always required the internet to work, even before the GA. This was true for the 50.0 remote as well. Been standard for several years now.

Sorry I didn't remember that. Still it was way easier to use the 40 remote than the 54 remote when the internet went down and after it came back.

Other than voice search, all other features and functions should still be available. Without the qualifying, I think what you’re saying is overall it was easier to use the 40.0. I would disagree, but it is entirely a subjective thing that we are both correct.
