Marquee Sports Network

An interesting article on the state of the RSN's.

I think Marquee will only be used for the Chicago RSN carrying the Cubs. It's thought that they may rename all those Fox Sports RSNs to "Diamond Sports," e.g. Diamond Sports South. This is because Sinclair formed a subsidiary called Diamond Sports Group, LLC to serve as the owner of those RSNs that they recently bought from Disney (which in turn had acquired them from Fox).

As for Stadium, that's the name of Sinclair's nationwide odds-and-ends sports network. They carry it as a free subchannel on many of their local OTA stations. Here in Nashville, it's on channel WNAB 58.2. They also include it on free streaming platforms, like their own STIRR app, Pluto TV, Xumo, etc. You can also find it in certain cable TV packages.

Fun fact: In a few markets, Stadium is the primary channel OTA so it gets on Directv, too. I believe Dallas is one of those markets. It's also on ch 1059 on Internet-connected Samsung Smart TVs.

Wow. Great read. Thanks for the link.

I knew that analysts were turning bearish on the overall RSN model but I didn't realize that things could really go sideways for Sinclair on theirs this year.

The Comcast deal is the big question (given that they've already gotten distribution renewed with AT&T). I could easily imagine Comcast segregating both Sinclair's RSNs as well as their own NBC Sports RSNs into their newly created "More Sports & Entertainment" add-on pack, currently priced at $10/mo. Comcast now typically charges an $8-9 per month add-on fee for RSNs and they're part of nearly every major package they offer across the country outside of their most basic locals-only package.

I live in Dallas. I had no idea it was available OTA or on Directv. Just thought it was streaming. Thanks for the tip.

It's not on mine.

Diamond Sports Network just doesn’t sound right. I say call them SportsNet whatever city/region they’re in and call it a day.

It is part of the TV Plus service that Samsung has. It just appeared one day, starting at channel 1000. It was just integrated with my OTA channels. There are many channels, a few are the same that are on Directv. Some are subchannels like WeatherNation (1034), Buzzr (1272), and Stadium (1059). One channel is 4K, Insight (1063). There is also a different beIn Sports channel (1062) than the ones we had, but they do not carry the La Liga games. There is a La Liga show though. There are a bunch of Asian channels, too, for some reason. My TV isn't that spectacular or fancy or new either.

well can Comcast really make do with zero Sinclair local channels?? Sinclair has a lot of power there.

Sadly all teams are going to start their own network.

If you have Dish, all this means you will never have your regional sports back. It’s been how many years with no YES network?
No YES, SNY, MSG Networks going on 10+ years now for Dish subs. Since 2008 when I moved to Dish from DTV it has not carried the YES Network. MSG went away shortly thereafter, never to return. I don’t recall SNY ever being carried either (not a huge Mets fan, sorry). Our consolation prizes were ATT Pittsburgh and Fox Sports Ohio. FSN-Ohio gone now too with the Sinclair dispute. As contracts expire I expect that no RSNs will be carried by Dish. The problem is we’ve not seen a corresponding drop in price or slowing of annual price increases (no RSN fee though).

I remember that. All the chargebacks we got from customers cancelling service in the NY DMA due to the Yankees
