My Wireless Joey's will all freeze and go black screen many times throughout the day, when this occurs I have noticed that both of my Wireless Joey Access Point 2's appear to be rebooting, power light flashes and goes through it's restart sequence all at the same time. Sometime they will come back on their own, other times they will have strong signal but will be unlinked from the Hopper.

My setup: Hopper 3 connected to 3 Wireless Joeys via two Wireless Joey AP 2s, access points are connected via bottom port on Hopper through a Ethernet network switch. Hopper is hardwire connected to the top port to Google WiFi system.

I have run on a single AP and same issue it reboots sporadically throughout the day. Had DISH techs come out for several visits now and between all the visit everything (Hopper, APs, Wireless Joeys) have all been replaced, except the dish on the roof. No issues with the main Hopper, can watch TV all day long without any interruptions. I have run the Hopper on WiFi only instead of hardwire same issue, almost seems like it happens more frequently.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Would anything on my Google WiFi cause and issue like this, don't really want to run without internet to the Hopper, kids like on-demand, etc! Even looked with WiFi network analyzer software nothing is all the same 5GHz channel/bands with the DISH. Seems odd to me that both APs will do it simultaneously, and has been doing through several software updates.

Wow, that is really interesting. Going to have to follow this one. I have a Hopper with Sling in the living room, three WJ's upstairs and I get the same symptoms you describe, although being upstairs when the issue presents itself I have not observed the WAP when it happens. A reset of everything will usually fix it but it is really annoying.

I am currently looking at some different options to move the WAP closer to the upstairs WJ's, or adding a second WAP. Hope you get it resolved, I am looking forward to seeing what you find out, as I have had very little in the way of actual troubleshooting by dish. The ended up replacing the HWS in December and it has been better but not completely gone. I think they were just guessing with replacing the Hopper.

That definitely sounds frustrating! It sounds like we would need to let our engineers know what's going on though since everything has been replaced, there may be something in the software causing the WAP's to reset on their own. We can get that submitted for you if you follow this link!

I see this on new installs all the time and my guess is a software mismatch. It's frustrating. I wonder if your Hopper downloaded the newest software recently and missed the correct WAP Software or the access points didn't update. Maybe try doing a reset by pushing the reset button on the back of the WAP and then relinking the Joeys

As far as I can tell everything is up-to-date, Hopper is at U549 and lists the available AP software as W206 and Joey software as U760, and both APs show W206 and all Joey's show U760 as the current software version. Is there anywhere that lists the latest versions available?

I have access to that.
Hopper 3 is U549
WAP is W205 on Dish's website. It doesn't show a 206
WiFi Joey is U760

So my latest troubleshooting step is now under way, I'm now bypassing my Google WiFi for the internet connection to the Hopper. I have done this by dusting off my old TP-Link Archer AC1300 router, disabled the WiFi on it, connected my cable modem to the WAN port, Hopper to one of the LAN ports, and the Google WiFi to another LAN port. My theory is that since the Hopper bridges the internet connection to the APs and Joey's any type of disruption or maybe the way Google renews DHCP leases might different the whole Hopper / AP / Joey configuration. This will keep Hopper / AP / Joey and all my other home network device on separate subnets as well. I will report back any results, good or bad!

Interesting, they are definitely running W206 based on the details listed under each one from the Diagnostics --> Whole Home menu. They are running different Boot Strap versions, not sure if that is a hardware/firmware version thing or something software related that gets updated periodically.

Typically, Dish is a little behind on updating software versions, but normally, they update all of the newest versions at the same time.
It's possible this one slipped through the cracks because remembering that I also have Wireless Joeys (duhhh lol), mine is also on U206.

You may have corrupted software because, as I posted, I see this on installs. The Joey connects the WAP and it immediately reboots. The fix on installs is to connect the Joey to the WAP via ethernet and let it connect. Then put the Joey back in place, reconnect the Ethernet to the Hopper, and when the Joey boots up, normally it will connect as it's supposed to, BUT, I've had more than 1 time where it took a new Hopper to get around the problem.

As yours have been in place, I can't say that this will work. Yours is definitely a unique case

Could you list what the latest versions for the Hopper, Wired Super Joey, and a Wired Joey are?

Could also include a link to Dish's website on these revisions?

Here are my latest versions. As HipKat has stated sometimes the Joeys don't have an update when the Hopper has an update. This is one of those times for me at least, so far.

So after 4 days of running with the my Google WiFi bypassed, I'm happy to report not a single unscheduled reboot, where I was previously getting 4 to 8 reboots a day sometimes more. I'm getting 24 hour up time on the APs detail pages before they reboot nightly at 1am (which is a little surprising since my scheduled system reboot is at 2am), but I haven't been awake to confirm that everything reboots at that time. Will leave it setup like this for now, it is a shame that $300 WiFi system has this kind of issue, especially with a hardwired connection, but I have to assume it something they way it handles DHCP lease renewals and the Hopper bridging the connection so that each AP and Joey get an IP from the router.

Hmmmm, mine is on a Mesh System also

Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using the SatelliteGuys app!

Everything still working good. I did want to point out that a DISH technical case manager reached out to me due to the number of service calls and amount of equipment replaced. I explained my issue and he did confirm that there is know incompatibilities with routers that they have documented due to the way the Hopper bridges the internet to the APs and Wireless Joey's. He listed these few as being known to be incompatible: Actiontec MI424WR, Technicolor TC8305C, Pace 5031NV, etc. I would at least temporarily add Google WiFi to that list.

He said there is a way to resolve this issue but it is not well known by the 1st level service techs and didn't offer it to me, but I will see if I can get what the resolution is from him.
